This time last week I was still at Kitacon 2016, held in Birmingham UK. It don't feel like it's been a week I was with friends, in cosplay and having a good weekend.
But like most good things it was over way to quick.
This years convention had been more stressful then most and almost led to me not going. Tickets were sold out for the 1000 people event in about 20mins.
Getting a ticket wasn't as bad as getting a hotel room, thats when the stress began. (Back in January)
In the past, the people that have booked a ticket for the convention got a discount code for a room at the hotel the event is held in for the weekend.
But by the time we got the code all the rooms given to our event had sold out, causing us to get a hotel a fair distance away, (mine was a 10min walk each time to get back to and from the event.) Some friends even had further to go. Which wasn't good for those of us in cosplay >_<
Also with it being Easter Holidays over here in the UK, there were alot of other events going on in the arena near to the hotel our event was running, So there were many "Muggles" around all giving us funny looks as they walked past.
And on the Friday of the con we were warned to be careful as there was a protest on Anti-Islam being held at the Airport (Again really close to our hotel) and were advised not to go far in Cosplay and to be careful. So we had extra security.
But anyway the rest of the weekend was fun, I cosplayed Shippuden Sakura, (as always) on the Friday and had five new additions to my photos as I had made some more smaller Katsuyu plushies.
We popped out to have a small photo shoot and I had took my Akatsuki cloak that I hadn't worn since 2011. The weather was on our side and we got some (what I think) are amazing photos.
Saturday, I wore my new cosplay, Hinata Huyuga. My friend and I had planned on doing a character swap, but due to her work shifts she didn't get Sakura done in time.
I was going to lend her my cosplay as I was doing Hinata but due to the judging for the masquerade, watching the masquerade and most of us scattered across different hotels, we didn't get time to get any photos.
I still did Hinata and gave her a test run. Im slowly starting to like myself in it but I have a few things I want to do before I wear her again.
Sunday was Kayley Again from Quest for Camelot but like before due to the travelling to and from the hotel, and very little sleep I was starting to get tired and was only in it for a while, no photos this year
I was going to attend the Kitacon ball but I felt so sick, with a migraine. I ended up going to see a Dragon Ball Z movie instead with friends and was just well enough to attend the last party.
But apart from all the downsides I still had a good time, Someone actually knew I was Cosplaying Kayley this year which made me really happy and it is a little unknown movie thats not Anime or Disney.
Thats about it for Kitacon this year, due to the stress from the start I wasn't sure what it was going to be like (and that fact it was much smaller compared to the previous cons) But im glad it was still a fun weekend away with friends and it was the first convention for some of my friends this year, so it was nice to have them around to experience it.
Got a few new cosplays planned for the next few events I plan to go to so i'm looking forward to working on them soon ^_^
