Is it really a Saturday night if you haven't had a kitchen dance party?
For the music thing, can I just ask you to answer them all because I'm curious to know regardless? Or would that be cheating and i still need to pick a number? Because if so, then I guess I'd pick 6 and 9 XD
Oooh, @quadrant90, I like this ask! How about a compromise? In 24 hours, whatever hasn’t been specifically asked, I’ll answer anyway, but I’ll answer the rest as their individual asks.
6: A song that makes you want to dance: Hideaway - Kiesza This one is a regular part of my kitchen dance party rotation.
Bonus song: Wake Me Up by Wham (extra bonus Zoolander video)
9: A song that makes you happy: Can You Picture That - Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem
Thanks again for the great ask, and the excuse to do the rest of the questions tomorrow!
Scissor Sisters - Kiss You Off
1. Song from year born
Hey, thanks @anon!
1. A song from the year I was born: Ram Jam’s Black Betty.
I was made aware of this song about 15 years ago when my brother made me a mix CD of a bunch of random songs he was into at the time. I don’t know if I’d just not heard it before that or if I just wasn’t ready for it, but I don’t remember it from before then.
Now, it’s in my everyday playlist on my phone, which is almost always set to random so I hear it occasionally. It’s an excellent Kitchen Dance Party song!
Thanks again, Anon. Feel free to send me one from your birth year, too, if you like.
For the song ask: 6, 17, 29
Hey, thank you so much, @aerylon!
6: A song that makes you want to dance: Oh gosh, I could write for days… I posed this question to the monkeys and the first response was, Wake Me Up by Wham. Bonus Zoolander video for this one, because it makes me laugh.
Do You Love Me by the Contours (bonus Dirty Dancing video) is another one that always starts a kitchen dance party!
Let’s Have a Kiki by the Scissor Sisters, though this one isn’t always appropriate, depending on who else is listening.
Time Warp from RHPS, of course.
Think by Aretha Franklin (bonus Blues Brothers video).
17: A song that would sing a duet with on karaoke: You’re the One That I Want from Grease is the first duet that pops into my head. I love this song and I always belt it out when it comes on.
29: A song that you remember from your childhood: The Devil Went Down to Georgia by Charlie Daniels Band. I was raised in a pretty conservative, religious household and we were not allowed to swear, at all, except one shining exception: if it was in a song, we could sing it.
My parents favored classic country and gospel, so there were a fair few times we could sing things like hell and damn. But this song has one glorious use of “you son of a bitch” that my siblings and I always sang for all we were worth.
Now as a parent, I’m a lot more open, so swearing isn’t unheard of here, but my kids, especially Button, still love this song for the unfettered joy of shouting out “son of a bitch” without having to worry about who might be listening.
What a super fun batch of questions! Thank you again for the great ask!
