Miraculous
The good news: Despite all the supply-chain warnings, our new range arrived two weeks ahead of schedule.
The bad news: When the installers came out to our house to hook it up and slide it in, they declared, after a brief wrestling match, that the space in the granite countertop where the old range sat was about 1/8 of an inch too small for the new one.
"It just won't fit," they said. "There's nothing we can do."
They suggested that we hire somebody to come out and "shave" one side of the countertop. Then they walked way, leaving the range in the middle of our kitchen.
More bad news: I immediately started trolling for a granite-grinder, only to be told by person after person why that wouldn't work.
The miraculous news: So there we were, stuck with what seemed like an impossible situation. We puzzled. We agonized. We measured and remeasured. It seemed to us that the thing should fit.
In an act of desperation, Sharon and I lined up the range with the gap in the countertop and ... pushed it into place. Just like that.
The back legs had to be adjusted. Naturally I called the appliance shop, explained the whole thing and suggested they send somebody out to finish the installation, for which we already had paid $160.
They did.
Kitchen Range
My kitchen range isn’t working quite right.
But I’m hosting Thanksgiving tomorrow anyway.
T’would be nice if Foyle would come help.

Set # 2,279
These are an odd shape. They are called kitchen range sets but they usually have long handles to hold over the pots on the stove but these ones have very stubby handles! They are painted with a quaint kitchen theme.
