hey! do y’all know if the kitchens in the houses (capen in particular) have gas or electric ranges?

Hello!

I believe all houses have electric stoves since our houses are pretty old and have very short burn times! Electric stoves are a lot safer that way.

Duckett house doesn’t have any stoves/ovens. We have a kitchenette with a microwave, but the great thing about Smith is that you can get permission to use the kitchens on different parts of campus.

Does Chapin house have a full kitchen?

Hey there! I’m a first year in Chapin at the moment, and while we don’t have a full kitchen, we have a nifty little kitchenette. Plus, students can use the full kitchen in the Campus Center... and, if you’re really lucky, you’ll make friends with people in houses like Cutter or Ziskind and then you can use the kitchen in their house! :)

Single-family homes only have one full-size kitchen with a stove and oven. You’re probably thinking, what about houses that have a guest suite? Are the houses with dining halls the only houses that don't have kitchens?

All houses have kitchenettes, with basic appliances for student cooking. Also, there are co-op houses, which don’t have dining halls but instead house students who do their own cooking- those are equipped with full kitchens! Plus, the dining hall kitchens aren’t typically used by students- the kitchenettes are usually sufficient, plus there’s a full kitchen in the Campus Center for student use!
