‘Just observe a specific feature about her and say that you like it!’ Kit scolded himself. He stared at her face, waiting for something to pop out at him.

Their eyes were locked. Brown to magenta. Then she blinked.

“I like the way your eyelashes flutter when you blink. And I think you’re very pretty. Sorry if that’s an inappropriate reason to ask someone out… I don’t socialize much outside of Surge. I don’t really know how to talk to pretty girls.”

Nailed it.

“Ah, fuck!” Kit groaned when the ball flew cleanly between the paddles, killing him.

Cream was silent. No words; not even a peep of condolences coming from her this time. A glance her way revealed a slightly perturbed look on her face.

‘Ah, fuck!’ Kit had the good sense not to say it out loud this time.

“Um, sorry about that. Bad habit.”

“Oh, it’s alright,” Cream brightened back to her usual smile quite quickly. “I was just taken aback. I’m not used to you sounding like that.”

“I try not to swear around you. I didn’t think you’d like it.”

“I appreciate that.”
