When you try to explain roller derby, it seems the first thought is that everyone’s a hardnut and all we want to do is maim each other, (we do, but only a little bit). But I’ll never quite believe the kindness and patience I’ve been shown by the team.

This has been said so many times, but it’s never saying “don’t be a wuss”.

It’s saying:

We’re your people.

Take up space.

Do your thing.

Have patience and keep trying.

Now get back up, hit me and don’t apologise for it 🤣

This has been said at training so many times that I had to draw it out. I may even have to print it and stick it up💖 I’d love to eventually draw all the good and funny advice I’ve ever been given whilst skating.

Two new(ish) faces for the Midnight Shift: Lilli Bernstein and JR Mason. Bernie is a total newcomer, but Mason kind of evolved from Jason. The rhyming name is an unfortunate coincidence - it was surprisingly hard to pick a name for him, and I’m still open to suggestions.

They’re crazy about each other.

In my plaguey little interlude I’ve been using my time constructively and rewatching the BBC Musketeers and I reckon it’s time damned well spent, most of all for listening to my mum cackle at the sassy punchlines and finally getting round to creating fanart nearly a decade late.

Athos looks so absolutely done with everything, but keeps coming back for more. His opening scene with *that* hangover and *that* bucket is one of my favourites in TV and says an awful lot about him without a word being said
