The company behind a contentious natural gas pipeline project in northern B.C. has been fined a third time for non-compliance with environmental orders, according to the provincial government.
The Environmental Assessment Office (EAO) has fined Coastal GasLink (CGL) $213,600 for what the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy described as "continued deficiencies with erosion and sediment control measures" identified during inspections of pipeline construction in February 2022.
The ministry says similar issues over the past year have led to enforcement action but noted improvements since Coastal GasLink and the EAO entered into a compliance agreement last summer.
The latest penalty is related to a section of the pipeline route near Kitimat in northwest B.C. before the signing of the agreement. [...]
Additional penalties recommended by enforcement officers following other inspections last year are under consideration, the ministry said.
There have been more than 50 inspections along the pipeline construction route since the project's inception in 2019, the ministry says. The Environmental Assessment Office has issued 37 warnings and 17 orders.
A penalty of $72,500 was issued in February 2022, and another $170,100 fine was issued three months later.
B.C. Green Party Leader Sonia Furstenau was critical of the B.C. NDP government and says it's time to issue a stop work order on the project. [...]

Let’s just kill the bad guys and get karma. Conclusion, Eye of the Eagle, the adventure for Native American Nations, Vol. 2, for Shadowrun (1st Edition). Part 4.
We by now hopefully the runners have figured out the dastardly plan to… you know, kill everybody. Let’s summarize the opposition:
Wallace Blackwood, who may or may not have survived the Raid on Kwalock Base, is an Owl Shaman and Grade 4 Initiate with 38 points of spells and a Power Focus 5. He is also carrying a Knife, a Ceska Black Scorpion Machine Pistol, and is wearing Armor Clothing, because how else will he let you know he’s a magician who never needs to get in a fight with real weapons?
Wallace is dedicated to and is willing to die for...
Daniel Sheemahant, leader of the Haida National Army of Liberation (HNAL), who, while being maxed out in combat skills and has two strength-enhanced cyberarms and dermal plating (3), doesn’t have wired reflexes. He is carrying a pimped out HK 227, aka The Best Weapon in Shadowrun, so you have to take him a little seriously.
Daniel is dedicated to and is willing to die for...
Marta, who is a toxic Dog Shaman, also a Grade 4 Initiate, has 67 points of spells (!!!), a Weapon Focus 5, and has Control Emotions and Influence spell-locked on Daniel. She thus has at her disposal...
Fifteen HNAL mooks with automatic weapons and a couple of missile launchers.
Whether you have the Rocker or the Rigger – there is NO logical possibility of the team of runners surviving this.
How this adventure plays out depends upon how the runners handled Wallace (and his nine HNAL mooks) at the Raid on Kwalock Base. His team was loading out containers of the Red Masque virus and transporting them to an HNAL camp in Athabascan Council. Whether they stop Wallace or not, that is their next clue and destination.
On their way, the runners are ambushed by a snowmobile thrill gang called the Polar Bears, shown below.
After that adorable combat, the team reaches the base in Telegraph Creek (along the Stikine River) only to discover:
The area just to the south has been dubbed the “Dead Zone” after all mammalian life in a 3-klick radius died.
The base itself has been abandoned, but they just happen to find the last clue to direct them to the final battle…
…on a BOAT!
Tag yourself - I’m 7. Captain Kid’s Lounge
All in all, it ends up being a very James Bond style finale, where the team has to storm the boat and stop the terrorists before they set the timers on the virus-bombs to explode as they send the hijacked cruise ship and its fantastic Saloon Deck into Kitimat Harbor.
And explosions. Lots of explosions.
Overall, a much more thrilling finale than at the end of Peacekeeper, the adventure included with Native American Nations, Vol. 1.

I HAVEN’T PAINTED IN 3 MONTHS!
Anyway, this is the view from my front door. I’ve been working from home for a month now so I’m usually cooped inside the house. I associate this sight to Amazon packages because this is what I see when I open the front door. This one is special because I painted it during a sunny day a few days ago. Goodness. If it’s not snowing, it’s raining so we barely see the sun. Every one is surprised and joyed to see the sun. Right now, the city is covered in snow haha. I wish it’s already summer
