Russetpelt and Swifttail
Second and Envoys of Field Colony
Kittens: Oat, Goldenpelt, and Ambereyes
A very loving and sincere Ranger, mate and friend, no one was surprised when Captain Skyfang made Russetpelt an Envoy. His compassion and sense of duty set an example for all at Alliance Lake.
A coy ranger with a stubborn streak and quick wit, Swifttail impressed Skyfang’s council as well. Swifttail had a great skill to organize cats and get them all on the same page. As Envoy’s, the pair brought a sense of playful competition to their Colony.
Russetpelt and Swifttail were partners in all things and when they had their first kitten, Oat, they spent every moment they weren't ranging or in meetings with their son. Especially Russetpelt. Everyone could see Russetpelt's love and joy for little Oat, who would follow his father around base like a shadow. When a pack of Shade Coyotes attacked Field Colony and killed many of Field Colony’s kittens, including Oat, Russetpelt and Swifttail mourned with the Colony. The heartbreak for Russetpelt was almost too much to bear, and he only found comfort when their friend Hazelfur, Field Colony’s most devoted Keeper, stepped up to become Envoy and Second in the wake of the tragedy. Russetpelt and Swifttail agreed that carelessness had been what had caused the attack, and Hazelfur was the only cat suitable to bring justice for the Spirits to Come. When Hazelfur became Captain, they became some of his most devoted supporters in the matters of the council, and Russetpelt was named Hazelfur’s first Second.
Even as the Colony moved on, the couple had a hard time trying to have another litter. The loss of Oat still weighed on them heavily. Eventually they did decide to try again, and when Golden and Amber were born on the Summer Solstice, an Alliance holiday celebrating kittens, they felt blessed by the Spirit’s Beyond.
Unfortunately, their happiness would not last long, as their old foe appeared soon after. Thanks to Hazelfur’s leadership, the colony was better prepared to face the coyotes this time. Russetpelt died defending his kittens, but not before killing the coyote that had taken Oat from them.
