Friendly reminder that Satoshi Tajiri CONFIRMED that Red was his self insert in this interview with TIME magazine 😭😭😭

and before you guys tell me that this refers to Ash from the anime.... this interview predates gold and silver when they officially renamed the game's protagonist to be "red" so in Japan, him and Ash were both called "Satoshi" so he's essentially saying that Red is his self-insert 😭😭😭 (Tajiri worked more on the games as he had nothing to do with the anime)

I'm crine 😭😭😭 this is just the Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse "alter-ego"/partners dynamic all over again 😭😭😭

Weird headcanon but my metafiction lover ahh decided to come up with the headcanon that Red has those anime swirl fingerprints, but instead of a generic swirl it's the Game Freak logo as seen above

There's TOO many implications from this headcanon when you think about it for too long... WHY IS THIS SO EXISTENTLY HORRIFYING?!?!?!? WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE HAS TO LOOK DOWN AT HIS OWN TWO HANDS AND HE SEES A CORPORATE STAMP?!?!?!???... All because I came to the conclusion that it looks like a smeared "G"!!!

To further elaborate on that (in a NON pop culture induced metaphorical matter), this is my multifandom haven where I lurk most of the time! I use Tumblr as a second Pinterest/Twitter so that explains the constant reblogging 👍

I actually do post my own stuff but it's very sporadically lol

this is NOT an aesthetics blog even though it's kind of built like one... looks are deceiving, in this case 😅

i'm a bit of a kitschy sentimentalist with an appreciation for the arts, I like animation (cartoons/anime), gaming, and some form of marketing and graphic design! I try to get into too many things at once to entertain my professional yapper self 😅

I'm like one of those weird compilation CD/DVDs that has a random assortment of media on it (that just so happens to be strawberry scented)

(also a weird hankering for highly specific breeds of time period media) ⚡

I like making custom graphics! Like taking images and making them transparent?

my aesthetic is a mess but I yearn for the frills and tropical aesthetics... and whatever aesthetics the blorbo media contains... I've been trying to pin it down so most of the gist is on my aesthetics board :D

same with my music taste... I lowk blame vocaloid for this, I was able to pin some of it down but here's my playlist anyways lol

my main interests are Pokémon, Vocaloid, and Sanrio! I like video games but I mostly specialize in Nintendo and PS1/PS2!

pokemon is the main one at the moment (trainer red my beloved 🥺🥺), but I used to be a BIG contributor to the Sanrio/Hello Kitty Wiki! (if you somehow know me from there then hi!!)

I have too many other misc interests so I'm putting this chart below

I almost forgot to mention that I'm lowk #deep and get weirdly philosophical, I'm also a BIG fan of metafiction as you can see, I like angst and existential implications more than I should

If y'all been stalking my account then you guys would have noticed that I've been reblogging a lot of pokepasta related stuff lately, more specifically one called @pkmn-monochrome which is a Tumblr ask blog made by sparks

I was reading Pokemon monochrome related stuff (when I came across a few asks/interviews by Sparks) where they described the characters Trainer Red and Leaf as "basically the amalgamation of all of Cody's memories of Pokemon" and it reminds me SO MUCH about how I feel about trainer red in general specifically.... like I'm sorry I'm going to be focusing on him more than Leaf but he's my favorite character so uhh

red is a PEAK narrative haunter not even in the canon or anything but just in the meta

to me, everyday red feels like less of a character and more like a gijinka of the Pokemon franchise; the anthropomorphic form of it if you will, a VOCALOID almost.

and if we're going with the whole concept thing with him being a player character he could have existed as long as the developers were thinking of a player character, he's even a legacy character too considering he's been around since the capumon/capsule monsters (beta Pokemon) days (under a different name that is supposedly "Yuuichi" but I don't trust anything from Helix Chamber) as a suspiciously hatted not explicitly named dude 👀

And the phrase "red/leaf are the amalgamation of Cody's memories with the world of pokémon"

HOW DID THEY EXACTLY JUST DESCRIBE EVERYTHING THAT I FEEL ABOUT RED
