It's the sudden screaming and barking that makes Koutaro notice that his dog ran off without him. It takes a moment for him to find where the noise is coming from and what he sees is... well, hilarious.
He recognizes the duo immediately. It was definitely Wataru and Kivat. The bat was currently yelling at his dog who was trying her best to jump high enough to grab him. Unfortunately for Kivat, he was perfectly toy sized and Koutaro stands there to watch the show.
