female reader
Byakuya Togami
He gives a heavy, dramatic sigh. He adjusts his glasses and tells them that "Togamis do not fear figments of the imagination"
He won't do baby talk. Instead, he'll explain the logic of why the monster isn't real. If that fails, he pulls out the "big guns": he lets them sleep in the "big bed" just this once between mommy and daddy, provided they don't kick him
You wake up to find your child fast asleep and Byakuya reading a book by dim candlelight, secretly watching over you both
Hifumi Yamada
He lets out a dramatic gasp, pushing his glasses up so they glint in the dim lighting. It reminded him of a wholesome anime he watched once between a single father and an adorable little girl he adopted. Now was time to see if anime can translate to real life
He doesn't try to convince the child that it's not real. Instead he lets them hold onto one of his anime plushies and tells them it has an ability to ward off evil spirits
He ends up narrating a Hero's Journey where a child is a protagonist who defeats a nightmare with the power of friendship. 100% stolen from something he read last week. The kid is so distracted by the complex lore that they fall asleep mid-sentence
Kiyondo Ishida
He's out of bed and shouting before the door fully opens, knowing exactly what is to come
"STAND TALL! WE DO NOT ALLOW VAGRANT THOUGHTS TO BREACH OUR PERIMETER!"
He combines Mondo's physical protection with Taka's discipline. He'll give your kid a vow of protection, doing a few push-ups next to the bed just to show the nightmare that he's pumped up and ready to throw down
He ends up tucked into the corner of the child's room like a gargoyle, guarding the door with his arms crossed and an intense stare. Your kid feels safe because what monster in their right mind would want to mess with that?
Kiyotaka Ishimaru
He's very loud at first, shouting: "A NIGHTMARE IS NOT MATCH FOR THE SPIRIT OF AN ISHIMARU!", but he quickly lowers his volume when you nudge him
He creates a "Nightmare Prevention Protocol". This involves checking under the bed, in the closet, and behind the curtains with military precision
He gives a 10-minute lecture on bravery and the importance of a good night's rest for cognitive development. Surprisingly, the rhythm of his voice puts the kid right back to sleep
Leon Kuwata
He jumps when your kid taps his arm, screaming a little and assuming they're a little ghost or demon come to take him (it is late, after all)
He put on some music, as soft as he personally can handle, or hums a song he's working on as he takes them back to bed. He tries to make the nightmare seem lame or uncool so the kid isn't afraid of it anymore
He ends up playing a handheld video game with them in bed for twenty minutes to "distract their brain" before they both eventually pass out
Makoto Naegi
He's immediately down on their level, rubbing their back and offering a sleepy but incredibly warm smile
He'll tell a story about a tiny seedling that was scared of the dark ground but grew into a huge sunflower
He ends up carrying them back to bed, tucking them in so tightly they can barely move, and staying there until they fall asleep. He probably falls asleep in the chair next to the bed, too
Mondo Owada
His first instinct is asking who he has to fight. Once he realizes it was just a dream, he gets incredibly flustered and gentle
He picks the kid up with one arm like they weight nothing. He'll take them to the kitchen for a glass of milk or a snack, talking in a low, rumbling "tough guy" whisper to soothe them (and maybe make them laugh)
He lets the kid wear his gang jacket like a blanket. The sheer weight of it makes them feel safe
Yasuhiro Hagakure
You'll have to calm him down along with your child if it involves a "tangible" threat like a monster in their room
Once calmed, he'll dig out a protective crystal (a cool crystal he found online) and tells the kid it has a good chance of warning off all bad spirits
He burns some mild incense and tells fake stories about his travels until your kid is bored enough to fall asleep
