Sunday Night Football (again)

I was pretty pumped from the first Seahawks drive. It had nothing to do with Blair Walsh actually making a field goal. There was something about watching this team. There was once again that something, that one thing that can’t be explained. It is just, the Seahawks. They are just, magical.

The looked powerful. They looked like they wanted it. While I was a little nervous earlier in the day while thinking about how we were gonna play, I was still hopeful. I thought about how great it would be for us to win this. The Eagles have been the talk of the league this season. I knew we were playing at home but I also knew we weren’t the same team where we hadn’t lost a game in our home in years. Commentators keep mentioning the fact that half of the Legion of Boom is missing to which I say, so what? That still doesn’t mean these kids aren’t stepping up. It also surprises me how many people have been sleeping on Bobby Wagner all these years. THAT I don’t understand. I’m pretty sure I’ve already posted pretty hard about him earlier in the season, so I’ll just leave it at that.

Someone else who I believe is a little underrated, Mr. KJ Wright. That guy has had some good plays in the past and it seems like he just gets passed on. WAKE UP EVERYONE. THIS IS STILL A POWERFUL TEAM, DESPTIE ALL THE INJURIES. Get it Seahawks.

Most of the time I’m pretty sure everyone that is commentating on a Seahawks game, wants the Seahawks to lose. Despite making insane plays, doing things that shouldn’t happen, playing well… they still talk like, “oh if nobody had been there, the Eagles would have had a touchdown.” Well guess what, someone was there. It happened multiple times, and they only had one touchdown. Sooooooooo? Time to move on. We get it. You don’t like the Hawks.

While our offense is still a little shaky, we’re actually playing much better. Granted Russell Wilson has to keep the plays alive most of the time and his rushing yards are much better than a lot of the running backs on the team, but that’s okay… for now. I’m happy with what the TEs have been able to accomplish this season. It’s nice to see Nick Vannett making big plays. And of course, the Jimmy Graham. I am loving these Wilson to Graham plays.

I don’t really know what else to say on tonight’s game. Unfortunately, I’ve spent the past two weeks incredibly sick so that is why last week I didn’t get around to writing anything (I watched the game with Kleenex shoved up my nose, wrapped in a blanket, and was pretty much in a daze the entire game). I do recall Russell Wilson being picked off the first pass of the game.

Boom For Thought: Okay. Everyone keeps talking about our powerful Decembers. If we want to make it into the playoffs, we are going to have to keep this up. Our defense needs to hold it down and our offense needs to work on, well, blocking. Give Russell more time. If you’re able to give him a little more time there are going to be some big plays being made. Maybe also find your running back. It looks like we have 2 pretty strong contenders with the plays J.D. McKissic and Mike Davis. My hope is that we’ll have Chris Carson back in the mix soon.

It’s been a long offseason for the 49ers, who have seen numerous key players deal with injuries throughout the spring and summer. Add more to the list of San Francisco talents set to miss the preseason. Jerick McKinnon and Weston Richburg are both unlikely to play until Week 1. Given $18MM guaranteed, McKinnon is still dealing with knee trouble after missing all of last season with an ACL tear. The sixth-year running back received a platelet-rich plasma injection on his knee and is expected to miss the 49ers’ August slate, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com notes. The team activated him from the PUP list Tuesday, but Kyle Shanahan said his prized 2018 offseason signing experienced significant soreness after going through individual drills the past two days. Richburg, who remains on the active/PUP list after a January knee surgery, is being targeted a Week 1 return. So are Nick Bosa and Jason Verrett. The 49ers hope Dee Ford, who received a PRP injection on his injured knee, can play by the team’s dress-rehearsal preseason game. Here’s the latest West news from outside of San Francisco: * With the Seahawks in desperate need of available pass rushers come Week 1, more blitz opportunities may be on tap. Bobby Wagner, K.J. Wright and Mychal Kendricks (should he be on the field) are in position to be used more as rushers. “If we can play really good D, it’s going to be because of Bobby and K.J. and Mychal and the guys in the linebacker spot. We’re going to utilize them as much as we can to be a factor in all aspects, run and pass [defense],” Pete Carroll said, via ESPN.com’s Brady Henderson. “Those guys are really good pass defenders, and they love coming off the edge too. We’ll plan on using those guys a lot.” After Frank Clark‘s departure, the Seahawks have Ziggy Ansah and L.J. Collier injured. Jarran Reed incurred a six-game suspension. Wright has not collected a sack since 2016, when he had four. Wagner had 4.5 that year but recorded 2.5 since. * Theo Riddickwill earn a $2MM 2019 base salary with the Broncos, and $750K of it is fully guaranteed, Mike Klis of 9News tweets. Another $250K will be available in per-game roster bonuses. Overall, Riddick signed for $2.5MM with $1MM guaranteed. This makes it a near-certainty Riddick will appear on the Broncos’ 53-man roster in September. * The Broncos are already down Todd Davis for multiple weeks; they will be without one of his top backups for longer than that. Joe Jones suffered a triceps injury this week, and a second opinion delivered more clarity on the inside linebacker’s timeline. Jones will be out between six and eight weeks, Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic tweets. But he will not need surgery, which could increase his chances of making the Broncos. If Jones hits IR before the Broncos finalize their 53-man unit, the special-teamer will be ineligible to return for them this season. * Returning 2018 fifth-round pick Johnny Townsend would seemingly be in line to keep his job as the Raiders‘ punter, but Jon Gruden said rookie UDFA A.J. Cole has put himself in the conversation to unseat the incumbent, per Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal (on Twitter). Day 15 - little scene

Felt tired and slow today! Drawing challenges can be hard on days when the enthusiasm/inspiration doesn’t feel there, but sitting down and just letting the mind wander, works too. :)

Day 13 - Trapped in a Bubble of Water. Probably more of a drop than a bubble, but the V.S.G. wasn’t about to split hairs over that. This is about the time during a drawing challenge where ideas only come if you start drawing, I find. So I drew a circle, then this happened. Also, a few thousand tiny hand-drawn dots!

Inktober day 12 - “Paramecium Pants.”

Was originally going to call this “Nib-breaker” as that’s what happened when it caught in the paper on the tail. (conveniently, the pose suited the snagging!) Helpfully indicated by the somewhat pointless arrow (paradox?) just in case the splatter didn’t make it obvious...!

Having wrecked the fine tip of the dip-pen’s nib (once one side bends away they’re pretty much knackered), I thought perhaps I might decorate the pants with an ordinary 1mm tipped pen. As I drew aimlessly, I decided perhaps the pattern looked a bit like paramecium. And this is what happens, when you start drawing with no fixed goal in mind!

Day 10. The Cornish Teabiscuit.

A featherweight of the Gryphon family, the tiny gray-and-fawn Teabiscuit can be found warming itself against the side of a large porcelain teapot, when there is plentiful company on a lovely sunny day. Although not averse to snaring a morsel of scone with cream and jam, it is quite particular in its tastes in this regard, preferring only scones that have jam first, THEN cream. (Its equally miniscule cousin, the Devonshire Teabiscuit, looks identical but can be distinguished by its preference for cream BEFORE jam.)
