Countdown
Klaine AU based off of a prompt about what if you had a clock on your wrist counting down the moment until you met your soulmate. 00:02:37:29 Two hours thirty seven minutes and twenty nine seconds. Kurt Hummel wasn't what you called an average boy. He had a fashion sense that could knock you out of this world, as well as wit that could knock you straight on your ass at the same time. He was proud of himself, from the range of his voice right to the bottom of his perfect Doc Martins. He was also gay. 00:02:25:45 Blaine Anderson glanced down at his wrist before shrugging on his Dalton blazer. Nerves pooled in his stomach as he watched the clock count down, unable to keep himself from glancing at the many boys walking through the halls. This was it. This was the day that he was going to meet his soulmate, when he would meet the boy he would love all his life. 00:01:45:27 Kurt felt the pain in his shoulder immediately. The locker echoed the resounding thud of his body hitting the cold metal. The jocks just continued walking, laughing and high fiving each other. Kurt pulled himself together, thinking that if any one of those imbeciles were his soulmate he'd rip them a new one. 00:01:25:49 Blaine kept glancing at his wrist, not knowing if he wants it to go faster or have more time. God, he was only a sophomore after all, how was he this lucky, or unlucky, to meet his soulmate this early in life? Most people had years upon years before they met their soulmate, if at all. Because there were always those clocks that stopped before they reached zero, always those that would never reach that little number. He glanced down again to see only a minute had passed. A minute. Really? 00:01:16:35 "Go spy on the warblers, Kurt," Kurt mocked in a terrible impression of Puck's voice to himself under his breath. He sighs deeply, ignoring the relief he feels leaving the halls of McKinley at least for the moment. Ignoring the fact that he should feel bad about skipping, how he'll have to deal with his dad's disappointment when he finds out he skipped today. 00:00:45:26 Less than an hour left, Blaine thinks. Less than an hour until he meets him. He can't help but wonder what he will look like. He'll probably be taller than he is, most people are after all. What color hair will he have? What color eyes? Will he be a singer like him? Blaine thinks it's okay if he's not. He just hopes that he's kind. 00:00:35:29 Kurt almost forgot about the clock as he drove. Key word, almost. He calculates it out and figures he should be at Dalton Academy by the time the clock reaches zero. He doesn't know how he feels about that. Westerville was a bit of a drive away from Lima, after all. His thoughts stray as he drives the nearly empty roads, thinking about this unknown boy. 00:00:19:37 Every second that ticks closer to zero, Blaine's nerves grow. He practically forces himself to pay attention, knowing that you are supposed to go about your normal day. Your aren't supposed to let yourself try to search for them, just let them find you. Another minute passes, another round of butterflies erupt in his stomach. Blaine glances up at the clock, trying to figure out when he will meet his soulmate. Soon. 00:00:10:48 Kurt is pulling into the Dalton parking lot, looking around with wonder at the building in front of him. He eyes the boys walking around in navy blue blazers, and looks at his own poorly disguised coat. He sticks out like a sore thumb and he can only hope he won't get kicked out before he sees the warblers practice. After all, that's what he's here for. Certainly not to find his soulmate. 00:00:05:32 Crap. Five minutes left and Blaine still has to perform for the show. He eyes the clock and fidgets, wondering how in the hell he's going to meet his soulmate if he has to perform as soon as class ends. The teacher continues to drone on, but Blaine pays no attention. He looks around, wondering if anybody near him seems nervous, nope. They all just look bored. 00:00:01:45 Kurt walks into the building just as the bell rings, still wondering how he managed to sneak in. He's suddenly surrounded by boys dressed in navy blue blazers, all talking about the warblers. Exactly what he's supposed to go watch. He follows the crowd, hoping nobody calls him out for obviously not belonging here. 00:00:00:56 Blaine looks down at his wrist as he heads to the commons, what should be filling his mind is song lyrics. What actually fills his mind is anticipation. Wonder. A little bit of fear. He heads towards the main staircase, seeing the glances his way as he walks to the senior commons. Only a little while ago, he was still scared about those looks, but these are supportive. They know who he is. He wonders if he does too. 00:00:00:38 It's gonna happen soon, Kurt knows. He can feel it in his gut before he even looks down at the clock on his wrist. His stomach knots with nerves, and a little fear. His shoulder is bumped into and fear fills his stomach in an entirely different way that only results from the years of hell he's had to endure. He just continues to follow the crowd. 00:00:00:25 Blaine is almost at the main staircase. He knows he's probably the last person there, after all his math class is on the opposite side of the building. But he can't help but take longer, looking around at everybody around him. One of these boys is his soulmate, who he's going to meet in only a few more seconds. 00:00:00:10 Kurt starts to descend a staircase with everybody else, looking around. This school is really beautiful, he can't help but notice. He's stopped glancing at his wrist after the thirty second mark, instead preferring to just look around. Where is he, he wonders. 00:00:00:05 Blaine pushes through a couple of the boys walking down the stairs. A sense of pride fills him when he hears them talking about his upcoming performance. He smiles as he walks down, wanting his soulmate to see him first smiling. 00:00:00:01 A boy bumps into his shoulder and he finds himself speaking, the words tumbling out of his mouth before he can think. "Excuse me," he says, causing the boy to spin around, his hazel eyes glance up at him and widen in surprise as both of their clocks fall off their wrist at the same time. 00:00:00:00 He's beautiful, was Blaine's first thought. He smiles at the boy, his soulmate. Those blue, or were they green, or were they grey, or were they- those incredible eyes look down on him in amazement. "I'm Blaine," he introduces himself to the boy. "Kurt," he responds. Blaine smiles wider, ignoring the fact that he has a performance to get to. Ignoring the fact that the crowd around them is thinning. Just focusing on this boy, his soulmate, his Kurt.
