But let’s talk about Caroline Forbes...
... in one particular scene from episode 7x14.
She called Stefan, but heard another voice answering. The voice she didn’t expected to hear so suddenly.
She asked ‘who is this’ not because she forget person who so often was calling her ‘love’ or this person’s voice. Stefan didn’t share his plans with her (anyone suprised?) so she didn’t know where he is, and last thing she expected from him to do was heading to NOLA. Then she heard Klaus’ voice and panicked. So first thing she did was to make sure she didn’t misheard.
Just moment before she spoke his name corner of her mouth twitched, her eyes softened and whole face for less than second expressed uncontrollable gladness. Then sound of this one word - how gently it was.
She didn’t hung up when listening to his advice about picking up baby. She needed a deep breath and clearing her throat to turn into that girl who always was confronting him and always wanted doing things her way - she went straight to the thing she wanted to know.
When he immediately changed subject she listened without impatience.
She wanted him to know that babies aren’t hers. Three times.
She started to talking about Stefan but smoothly went to explain how bad she feels about situation she is in. Because after two damn years she finally was talking to person who she knew is not only listening to her but actually hearing. Look how fast she said that. She was overhelmed of things and needed to tell somebody everything, she just threw it out to feel better. She knew Klaus won’t ignore her problems like everybody else does.
And he took one problem away from her (Stefan), she calmed down a bit, even smiled lightly, so baby being so close to her stopped crying (but she didn’t noticed, because she was talking with her bae).
She rejected to talking about things she told him before, because she knew she’ll loose to him. She isn’t in happy place. It isn’t life she wanted. Even her boyfriend is making decisions without thinking of her, because he has more important things to think about. And she knows, deep down, that if it would be Klaus, things would be different.
And the way she is listening to him when he’s giving her advice. She listens carefully, because she knows he is at her best interests. And she follows his advice, she allow herself to accept loving babies she was carrying, because that’s what left for her. Well, them, and Klaus, of course.
But most heartbreaking moment was at the end. He said his goodbye and she was suprised and disappointed. She found comfort in talk with him and she wanted it to continue.
Really, everything is so simple here. Caroline isn’t greedy woman, having Elena around for so many years taught her that she can’t be, because she rarely is getting something good. All she wants is to love and be loved. Is that much?
All she needs is Klaus. No more, no less.
