Short, Fast, and Loud // Poles // Ronan and Klaus
A breeze from the open window tore its way through Ronan’s skull straight through to his brain, punching his nerves. Waking, Ronan frowned and reached up. His hair was gone. The fuck? Getting out of bed and heading for the mirror, he saw that his head had been shaved, and a henna tattoo of a wave now adorned his head. It started at the base of his neck and wound its way up until it crashed on his forehead, for it looked like a wave made of trees.
Glaring at his reflection, Ronan realized who had fucked with him during the night: Fallen. The bitch must have sedated him and then messed with his looks. The man was so determined that he fit a certain mold: the mold of the stereotype Fallen wished him to be.
Turning away from his reflection, Ronan went through his morning routine as he had the day before. Shower. Dress. Sneak some drinks. Head to the canteen. Eat. Observe. Enter the training center as soon as it opened.
Taking in the training center, Ronan caught sight of the pole weapons station. Some kind of a weapon that looked like a larger version of an axe was leaning in a weapons rack. It wouldn’t do him any good in the fucking arena to not train with all of the different kinds of weapons, given he had no bloody clue what the gamemakers would grace the tributes with. And the fact that until the previous night he had never used anything more than an axe. Of course, in the end, he always had his fists. And he could do a lot of fucking damage with those.
But it was good to learn something new.
Walking over, he picked it up. Listened to the trainer’s voice as the long-haired man explained how to use it while flexing in the wall-length mirror. Cued up a few holograms, and with a bit of wear and tear, learned how to use the weapon fairly well. He was about to test his new skills in this thing, hand poised to cue up a few more holograms when he heard footsteps approaching the station.
