slugcat oc challenge by @kai-7kh !

I named mine (left) Torrent, and he lived in an area between two iterators, where the rain isn't deadly but there is a lot of flooding from the iterators' rains. The floods are dangerous and take the form of a raging river, a torrent if you will. They got the scars from the same lizard attack that separated them from their nomadic group, and being swept away in a flood while they're disoriented didn't help. From then on, they lived alone where they landed and made sure to get to a shelter as soon as the first drops were felt.

Bloodstone (right), as named by my friend, is the iterator Incandescent Absence's messenger. Slugcat genes were added with genes of a species of striped lizard outside the iterator's can to create a hardy hunter with a deadly strong bite. Not being socialized with other slugcats growing up made him clueless about slugcat culture and society, and could barely communicate with wild slugcats. Learning is slow going, since he rarely meets wild slugcats and if he does, it's usually just a short interaction while he's passing through for a delivery.

They met when Bloodstone was delivering a pearl to the neighboring iterator, Six Seas Ornamentation, for the first time and got swept up by the flood. Torrent was late going to a shelter and saw him drowning, and so decided drag him with them. In the subsequent cycles, Torrent acted as a guide and companion through the area between the two iterators while the two slugcats learned each other's means of communication.

Later, Bloodstone's creator spotted Torrent through an overseer and, recognizing the markings and ears, ordered Bloodstone to bring in the wild slugcat. It was confirmed that Torrent was a descendant of Ornamentation's first unnamed messenger. Torrent then received a mark of communication and went on their way.

Absence messaged Ornamentation about the slugcat and after some communication between the two species with Bloodstone using sign language to translate, Torrent agreed to be Ornamentation's messenger. It gave them a purpose instead of just surviving cycle by cycle, plus they can rest in Ornamentation away from the floods. Torrent goes out to greet and accompany Bloodstone if an overseer spots him coming over and vice versa.
