"Thompson, do you seriously not get it?" Lebron interrupted Klay before he began, hand squeezed tightly against the bottle, knuckles white. He looked like he was reeling from a flurry of emotions at once, but Klay guaranteed that a large part of the said emotions was genuine irritation, observing how Lebron took deep breaths to steady his famously short temper.

"Even before 2016, before I fucked shit up, even when he was with me, or Durant, his first priority was always, always you."

Klay felt like his soul was being punched out his chest, and Lebron just grits his teeth after the admission, head leaning back in the chair, hands shaking at his sides.

"Listen I let go of one of the best things in my life. You really, really don't want to make the same mistake I did and let him walk away."

"All I know is that making him sad will eat at you for years."
