So. Where to start.
On July 10th, 2016 a new series came out: Voltron, Legendary Defender, a series taken from the one produced in the 80s, in which five boys from earth team up to save the universe, together with a princess from an alien planet that ceased to exist 10 thousand years ago.
I grew together with them, travelled with them, faced trials with their help.
Even though they are fictional characters, they've taught me so much: they taught me the importance of communication, how to open my eyes to hidden friendships, how to be more considerate but also more confident in my skills. But most importantly, I learned how to let go, for example things that are out of my control, and focus on what I have now, what I can do and who I am now.
I saw them growing and changing with me, choosing their own, personal path, creating new bonds.
And then I saw two polar opposites gravitating towards each other: Lance McClain and Keith Kogane grew closer and closer, finding in the other a new sense of security, even though most of the times they threw the other out of one's comfort zone in the process... but thanks to this, they grew up and learned new ways of living. They decided to stick together, and even if the story took a different turn, I've always seen something more to it, something deeper. A bond that nobody could break, nor touch for that matter: it was theirs and only theirs.
They sought each other out every single time something went wrong (or right) and the other was always there, supporting and holding on tight at the same time. They are so special and dear to me.
I saw myself in Keith a lot, under so many aspects it would take an eternity to describe them all... but in short, I learned the most from him, I laughed with him, I cried with him. I got so emotional from pouring my feelings into this work that now I feel drained of all my energy... but happy. So, so happy. And I haven't said anything yet... but I'll stop there, or this will turn into a will.
I really hope, one day, to be able to find my own path, too. So... thank you, Voltron, for coming into my life.
I did this artwork in occasion for the Instagram challenge by @girlwithacrown. Needless to say, today has been a very special day.
The goal was to take one of Klimt's paintings and redraw it with a fanart or OCs. I chose to paint Klance, as you just read, redrawing Gustav Klimt's "The Kiss"
So, a huge "thank you" for this special opportunity ♥️
