Iginio Straffi liked my gay gay homosexual Bloom x Icy reel???? HELLO??? 😭😭
Sometimes you have to release all the darkness from the depths of your heart just to save yourself.
I spent a long time working on this art, as it's deeply personal for me. The topic of self-advocacy is extremely painful for me. What do you think? How do you feel about it?
27 august was my birthday! And to celebrate, I've prepared a new Enchantix art series that I'm so, so proud of! This year has been a time of incredible creative growth, and I'm still in shock at my own progress 😱 Is this really me?? I can't wait to see what the next year brings! Thank you for supporting me and being here! Let's celebrate together, hooray!!! 🐰✨ A little bit about my past year... This year has truly been a symbol of my rebirth. I'm rediscovering so much about myself, it feels like I'm a 3-year-old child just learning to stand on my own feet again. I received official diagnoses of ASD and c-PTSD, and for the past two months, I've been actively in psychotherapy. I'm crying a lot about the past right now, but I know it's a necessary part of healing after holding it in for so long. And for the first time, I'm starting to feel a real sense of relief. That's why every time you support me, it means the world to me. It's a reminder that I am loved and needed, and that's the best antidepressant anyone could ask for.
Bloom’s most overlooked character trait
I feel like so many people (including the writers) forget one of Bloom’s most important traits:
Her insecurity in not belonging.
Her biggest struggle is how in each season, there’s a new way that she doesn’t fit in with the others, and in the end she overcomes it.
Season 1:
Depending on the dub and how you read it, it kinda seems like Bloom is a bit of a loner in gardenia. We never see her friends or anyone else from there exept her bully and her ex Andy in season 4, so she starts out being someone who doesn’t fit in.
When she gets to Alfea and Magix, it’s not like what she imagined, the people here aren’t fantastical, they’re just people with magic. Very fast she struggles with both needing to lie about her identity, already setting up the fact that she’s not even supposed to be a student here and also doesn’t know how the world works or how to do magic.
She’s desperate to know where her magic comes from and why, since she’s the only fairy “from earth”
Her desperation leads her to be manipulated and scared into believing she’s born and made to become evil. Which one might imagine shakes her sense of self a little.
She then, at 16, learns that she’s ADOPTED, found in a fire with no information surrounding her, no one to say she was theirs, and the people who adopted and raised her didn’t even tell her.
Then she finds out her boyfriend/situationship has been lying about his name and identity and is ENGAED WITH ANOTHER GIRL
All of this culminates in her insecurity, being at home in the hopes to find comfort, and then the trix show up, almost kill her parents and take the magic from her heart (both metaphorically and literally)
The first season ends with her learning her own worth and knowing that she won’t stop fighting for the friends she finally has.
But it doesn’t end there
Season 2
She still doesn’t know much about her heritage or her family, so that's where her insecurity lies this season. It's also what makes her an easy target for fake Avalon to isolate her from her source of security last season; her friends and her boyfriend. I actually think her whole arc this season is very underrated in general, and could have been a really good message for kids about not getting too close with your teachers, because not all of them are good. But alas.
This is what leads her to becoming "Dark Bloom" shown thorugh a lack of love and close connections, and then the thing that lets her break out of it is Sky. It was her love for him, and remembering who she was, again about security in herself and those around her.
(Btw a beautiful shot from the finale)
Season 3
This season she knows her family heritage. And she also knows that they're all gone. So with learning that enchantix, the transformation needed to become a "true fairy", is earned by saving someone from your own planet it crushes her. We see in her nightmare how she feels about the others, feeling like she can never be as good as them. It's a big part of what drives her this season, she continously tries to find ways to train and get stronger because she has no shot at earning enchantix.
She also still yearns to find her family, and struggles with what to do about Valtor. Even though she hates him, she doesn't want him gone, because that might be her only hope of finding her birth parents, and Valtor uses this. Ofc in the end, she earns enchantix through concentrated power of will, which also supports her character, since her victories are defined by security in herself, and in this moment she is absolutely certain that she will defeat Valtor by any means necessary. And in the finale, it's also that same confidence and determination that overcomes her insecurities.
All of this culminates in the movie, with her dawning the mask of her sister and finally saving her kingdom.
Bloom's character is much more than the girl next door, or the perfect role model she is in later seasons, and I really wish they showcased this better, and it was something the fandom was more willing to showcase about her.
Based on a convo I had with a friend 😭
Idc what anyone says, this is objectively gay as hell
If someone told me „cause baby I‘m your match and you‘re my dynamite“ I‘d ask what are we
