(Story) There and Back Again
(Lynara and I wrote this on a google doc together. Just wanted to make that clear before anyone tries to claim otherwise.)
(Other than that, enjoy.)
Tendorokos would stand on the dock of Ramahen in Uldum. He watched the waves rolls softly due to the slight breeze. He had spent the last few months with Lynara, traveling and showing her anything and everything. He told her everything he knew, hoping to grow her intellect. Tendrokos stood just a few feet from the edge, his hair blowing softly. He had always loved this place. Perhaps it was the dry, ancient atmosphere of it all that he liked. He takes a deep breath, taking it all in once again. He was dressed in his casual red robes, the sleeves missing due to the heat. His gloves and hood were off as well.
Lynara was in her white robe since she has not been out enough to find a better pair. She looked at the odd creatures that were half beast and half man. She shook her head a bit. “Looks like a mage polymorphed them.” she knelt down on the dock looking into the water and seeing gigantic fish. Teloch perched on Ten’s shoulder like he normally did. As if he was their little look out. Her eyes filled with wonder at the strange land. She winced slightly as one of the creatures passed. She let out a small huff. “I have trained with my mind to long.. and now I breach everyone's mind… its become hard not to…”
Tendrokos glanced at her, smiling. “You have to learn to control your powers now that you know how to use them. Its the skill that most forget to mention once you start.” He nods to himself, waving a hand. “Sometimes others will posses the same power, and if they feel a presence on them, they won’t hesitate to attack your mind. They will think someone is trying to attack them, and they won’t wait to question. Half the reason you learn to control it is for that alone, also its a breach of a person’s privacy. You should only do it when absolutely necessary.” He would then sit down by her, his eyes now back to staring at the water.
Lynara pointed to a drooling Orc just down the way. “You mean someone like him?” he was another priest, who had his tongue rolled out of his mouth. His body limp as his eyes which looked almost dull. She merely laughed a little. “He was weak in the mind… he begged me to let go… I just made him have a dream that he was a gnome.” she giggled a bit and leaned against Ten. “I have learned to change the shadow.. and use it in other ways… like cutting fruit or bread.” she grinned. “Now I have no need for knives and forks.” she stuck her tongue out at him, nodded lightly. “Silvermoon gives me headaches when I lose control of my mind..”
Tendrokos looks at the orc, sighing at Lynara. “You can’t do that. Only if someone asks you to invade their mind -or- if its absolutely necessary.” He waves a hand at the orc, dispelling all magic on him and having him slip into a deep sleep. With that out of they way he focused on Lynara again, who had leaned against him. He smiles as she talks about using her new shadow abilities. “That's good, keep practicing. We will need to refresh your memory with healing spells and such as well.” He looks up at the clear sky above him. “We should probably head back to Silvermoon soon. We have been away for almost two months now. The others will probably be wondering where I went, and knowing them, they probably got into some kind of trouble.”
Lynara sighed and nodded. “Alright… but.. let me say this.. we need to ward the home.. so I don’t have to focus all the time on trying to keep my mind from going into those below us.” she shifted her weight to look into the water again. “You mean Fen and Klo? The two who are a little bit crazy you said?” she looked back to him with a smile. “You told me I can’t toy with them.. since they would take that as aggression?” she furrowed her brow. Knowing that she had a few mental relapses while on their travels. “What if I shift back into a memory when I meet them?” she had a worried look on her face.
Tendrokos shakes his head. “I don’t mind you meeting Fen or Klo. Just wanted to educate you before you met them. If you happen to shirt back into a memory they will understand why. They have seen worse, trust me.” He smirks. “As for the ward, I can put something up for the time being, but once you get the hang of controlling your mind, I will remove it.”
Lynara nods and smiles. “As you say father… I am still curious in.. why or how it was so easy for me to pick up the shadow.. it feels like its already apart of me.. as if I am it. Each time I pull on it, it becomes easier and easier… I fell back into the shadow when I slept… I woke as if the darkness was around me like a veil. When I saw you asleep I eventually came back to myself… is there a possibility that I will lose myself into the shadows and not remember where I am… or is that just the fact that my mind… was fragmented that badly when you found me?” she laughed lightly when he said they have dealt with worse. “I can be bad too.” she stuck her tongue out at him.
Tendrokos shrugs as she mentions the shadows. “It could be the fact your mind is fragmented, or the recently corruption of Fel. It could also be a mix of both.” He chuckles at her reply. “I'm not saying you can’t be bad love, i'm saying Fen and Klo have experienced more than you could imagine.” He waves a hand dismissively. “But that is for another time. Id rather not go into Fen and Klo’s personal lives. Last time I did something like that….” He stops mid speech, reformatting his words. “-the consequence was less than favorable.”
Nudged him lightly and smiled. “Well.. if anything happens, I will be here this time to make sure you are all better.” She looked behind her and saw the the orc fall off of where he was. She burst out laughing and covered her mouth. “So what is our next place? You have shown me a lot of Azeroth.. and I am sure there is much more to see.. but something tells me you are growing tired.” she stuck her tongue out again. “Growing old father.” she looked at him with her sharp eyes, full of mischief and wonder.
Tendrokos smirks. “I'm not that much older than you love. Besides, its not that I grow tired of this. I just feel we need to head back for a bit. We can always resume our travels, but I want to make sure the others are ok as well.” He would stand up and offer a hand to Lynara. “Come, Silvermoon is calling us. Lets go home.”
Lynara nods gently and only looks at him with amusement. “Come on Ten, I can still at least tease you of it.” she nodded a bit, knowing his duty to his guild. “Alright.. let us go make sure Klo and Fen are safe.. if they are up to no good, we can lock them in a room together so we can go on another adventure.” she grinned. From what she knew a bit of Fen and Klo, them both locked in a room would definitely become amusing.
Tendrokos shakes his head. “I’m not thinking they are up to no good, just in general.” He summons a dark gateway back to Silvermoon, offering a hand. “Time to go love. Too much time away and we will never want to go back.”
Lynara nods and follows his lead back home, all the time humming while Teloch chirped along on Ten’s shoulder. She loved to travel and refused to stop anytime soon, but a trip home would be nice, and a few nights in her bed as well.
