It should be a shock that Claude still got allowed to be invited to parties. For someone who had gotten in trouble wherever she went, she still hadn't gotten banned.

Technically, she would do something drastic to be prevent any offer of invitations. However, she wouldn't do it unless she went to a stranger's party.

She did mostly attended parties where any close friend of hers hosted it. Whether it's Cisco or Jing-Fei, she only went with a purpose to catch up with her friends.

Having long-distance friendships could be a challenge. Travelling to outer space had been more frequent than staying at her home in San Francisco. Yet she relished how the effort paid off in her experience. Knowing her friends had things going on made her proud.

They might be busy, however, she did her best to communicate. Check in on them whenever they might be virtually active. Sending texts in between of some 'jobs' and travels.

So, if she would go to a party, it would be for them. Even though, she didn't do much. Just observing others dance, drink, or party, basically.

Claude didn't dance much unlike in her early twenties prior to the accident. She drank in very specific occasions, preferably avoiding it whenever she could.

However, things could get a bit too much and she began sneaking off when it did. Retreating to a vacant room that didn't have any crowd. Trying to let her mind drift into any random thought.

Having a companion to sneak off with proved to be a bonus. That way, she could have a one-on-one conversation without any noise to disrupt it. Or sharing a silence, basking in each other's company.

To sneak out of a party completely. . . she did it rarely. As long as she dropped some hints before walking out. She did it if there hadn't been much going on to stick around for.

Yeah, she snuck off whenever she knew she could or felt like it.

Thank you so much for asking! This is so sweet! :’) A lot of the things are rather spoilery, so I’ll try my best to be a little vague here and there

magic is a known thing; everyone knows it exists but not everyone thinks it’s a good thing

the protagonist has a twin sister and both showed signs of magic when they were still little; e.g making stones move or dust swirl up

their parents were afraid of them/didn’t know how to handle them and basically sold them to the Eskar Guard, who work for the queen (they were also rather poor people and their mother was pregnant with another child...)

so they were trained and educated by the Eskar Guard, where they learned how to control their magic

both were rather quick learners and because the queen liked them, she took them in to become companions of the princess

as they grew older they became respectable members of the guard

prior to the when the main story starts, one of the sisters disappears/dies when the queen sends them Somewhere. She basically disappears through a shadowy-something that no one knows anything of

more of those holes appear, more people disappear

there’s also a kind of war going on between the Queen and a specific magical race. Because of her, they live scattered throughout the country, never feeling safe. The Queen thinks they are Evil...

or is it the Queen who is Evil?

She also sends the Eskar Guard across countries to find more magical children

I won’t go too much into detail about the magic, but there are different kinds; some are also more powerful than others, but it also depends on your genes

there are Pathfinders (what the twins are); it’s actually what it sounds like. They have a great cartographic memory and can’t get lost. The magic always brings them where they want to be. Some can also track animals rather quickly, or make stones move, bend branches. The protagonist’s sister can even sense water beneath the earth and make it surface. There are also some other neat things

it’s probably the most common magic type

I have the idea for a character who is blind, but because of this magic they can navigate and even fight

there are also Bloodwhisperer, who can be very dangerous... and probably some more types, that I have yet to discover

What have you been working on? Any new discoveries?

well, i've kinda driven myself into a corner with all the small edits i've been doing haha, but what have i been editing? a bunch of short stories! the docs i've got open now are "growing bodies" (i'm told it's vaguely surreal or more generally speculative... i'm not a great person with genres!), "the hairdresser's girl" (sort of a thing on grief ft possibly a ghost), and "sweeping graves" (which was my attempt at a postcard story for class -- i've handed it in already but it's still not quite sitting right with me). any new discoveries... hm... not to sound overly critical but i've realized that my endings are something that often gets picked on when i ask for crit, so i'm trying to see what i can do to make them better! how are you, and what've you been working on?
