Falling Apart ||
After weeks of work, and constant cases, he finally came home. Home to an empty apartment. All he could hear was the soft pitter patter of his kitten. There was no usual warmth in the apartment. Has it always been like this, he wanted to ask himself but of course he knew that it was always like this. It was always cold and silent. He set down all his paperwork on the table, threw down his keys and pulled off his jacket. A part of him hoped that it was just late and she was asleep but he knew the truth.
She was gone and the one person who managed to keep Myungsoo together when he was about to break was gone. Possibly forever. He let out a loud sigh and reached for the folders but drew his hand back. He had chosen his career over his relationship. Was this the way that it was all meant to be? He'd always work, always choose career, always run from anything good in his life? Seemed like it.
It wasn't like he was new to this whole thing where the career takes precedence over his relationship. His parents' marriage had suffered because of his dad's career and now Myungsoo was repeating the same things. He stared at the papers on the table and shoved them off. Working had ruined his life, his personality, everything.
He instead reached for the birthday gift from his parents, a bottle of wine. He struggled to open it and it took him ages to open it. Once he did get it, he just sat there sipping the wine from the bottle.
Tonight, he'd forget. Tomorrow, he'd deal with his new reality.
