PLAY IT.

Whole-heartedly, at the very least, watch a full playthrough but it won’t have the same suspense. The first chapter was genuinely the most memorable thing I’ve experienced in awhile from a visual novel. I cannot stress enough it elicited a visceral enough response I had a fight or flight response the moment I went to sleep that night where I was OUT OF THE BED before coming to my senses.

And, while I admit, it never reaches that same high as Chapter 1, the characters and writing keeps it enjoyable. It’s genuinely my favorite game right now and will be for AWHILE.

It smells strongly of peanuts. The scent fills your mind with pleasant memories:  late night study sessions, conversations, just enjoying another’s company … It’s  wonderful. Completely wonderful. You have a good feeling about this tea.

Mhhmmm ! delicious. The taste of peanut butter overwhelms everything, but you  don’t mind it. In fact, you’d say the peanut butter-y taste is the best part ! It’s like  a s’more in liquid form. You end up drinking the entire cup.

Zach knew that was true even without them saying it. Still, it was nice to hear. “ You’re  not gettin’ soft on me are ya, Kris ? “ a jest. He gently bumps the other’s shoulder with  his own, attempting to ignore the strange fluttering sensation in his stomach. “ I care  about you, too. ” the words come out sincerely ( softer than intended ) as he beams at  his friend, “ But I betcha knew that already, eh ? ”

“hi there.” lilian says it effortlessly, as if she isn’t approaching the withdrawn teenager with the unkempt hairstyle and a sweater that reminds her so intimately of their older brother. she’d gone to school with asriel, but hadn’t had the funds for college. not that anyone in hometown is aware of her economic situation. unlike kris’ father, she manages to make rent. she’s been working since she moved here, and no one ever dares ask her if she lives alone. with that same cheerful tone, the young woman motions for the teenager to open their hands. “here.”

a small candy is dropped into their palm. it’s nothing special — just an individually-wrapped caramel. she’s never been one for sweets herself, but she’s learned that a bag of candies goes a long way in acquiring friendships. “if you don’t like sweets, just hand it off to someone else.”

“ KRIIIISSSS !! ” judging by how loud he said their name his opinion was going to be a good one. “ What can I say ? They’re my bestie for a reason. They’re super cool, super smart and super cute - ” wait … wait a damn seconded !! He wasn’t supposed to say that last thing.

“ - I said ‘ cute ‘ out loud didn’t I ? ” he asks as if expecting a response. Oh well ! It doesn’t matter !! So what if he called his best friend ‘ cute ‘. It doesn’t mean anything !! hahahah … oh god. He has to resist the urge to face palm at his own inability to keep his thoughts inside his own stupid head, “ Annnd I just remembered they’re gonna be reading this …Hey, Kris. ”

First instinct is to lean into the other. Since this moment was so rare Zach  planned on making it last. “ Heheh, you ol’ sofitie ~ ” he speaks with affection,  arm slowly coiling ‘round their waist as he gives a sort of half-hug in return. “ What brought his on ? Not that I’m complaining. ”
