(Harrow, my sweet baby knight. I am making this up as I go soo it might be trash)
CW: Near death experience? (Mentions of almost drowning)
The field has always had this still quiet, like something is missing yet nobody knows what. The tall grass sways with the cool breeze, the sun beating down on the rows of flowers, their petals and leafs arching towards the sun.
That unnatural silence is suddenly broken by a crash, heavy metal hitting the earth with a clatter. The sound of heavy coughs and retching as a man purges his guts and lungs.
He remembers pain, the ache in his lungs, the stinging pain as his lungs filled with water instead of air. The crushing pain as boulders slammed into his breast plate, his chest aching as he tried to pull his armor off, to get to the surface.
Then nothing.
He felt empty before his eyes snapped open, that ache in his lungs still there but he feels something, like the earth is hugging his armor. Air.
A breeze.
Lifting his heavy head, his helmet feeling heavier than it should as he looks around, panting as he sucks in as much air as he can.
Unlike the tunnels he remembers, there's grass, tall and swaying. The sun, bright and hot, hangs heavily in the sky.
Pushing himself up onto his knees, his gauntlets scrambling against his helm as he pulls it up and over his head, his soaking wet bangs falling into his eyes.
A shadow suddenly blocks out the harsh sun, the huffing of a horse as it stomps it's hooves. Blinking away the freezing water from his eyes, his hand reaching down to his sheath, but its empty, his sword laying a few feet away.
"Well now, I thought you were a statue," a soft voice chirps, followed by a small thump as the person dismounts the horse.
"My only two questions are, how are you wet when the nearest river is a mile away? You should have dried up by now, especially in this heat. Secondly, where did you come from?"
---
That was two months ago. Harrow has come to realize, staying with this trouble maker was probably the worst thing he could have done.
"Harrow~"
He sighs heavily, shoulders dropping as he looks over his shoulder, peering through the slit of his helmet as he turns towards the voice. The heavy armor clinks as it presses on all sides of him as the sun shines into his eyes.
"Sooo, there's a few guys I might have angered. I'll pay you if you herd them off," the voice chirps as their horse huffs and stomps its hooves.
"I'll handle it," he responds, hating the conflict, but nobody else is willing to accept a knight with markings no one can read, with sigil's nobody knows.
"Thank you, my knight," they chuckle as the horse trots up next to him, allowing the small trouble maker to pet his helm, before shifting to the soft feathers of the plume.
Peacock feathers had been woven into the plume, a common bird in the area he was raised; although he's come to learn Peacocks have been extinct in this world for years, along with many other common birds.
This world really made no sense to him.
"What bird did you say these were from?" The voice leaks into his ears, grounding his wandering mind.
"Peacock. It was a common bird in the area I grew," he responds as he feels the gentle tug as they gently braid the soft feathers together.
"Never heard of them. Are they pretty like their feathers?" They ask while curling the soft strands together, making sure not to pull the feathers out.
"...Well the males are actually the pretty ones. Bright blue and green feathers, massive tail feathers that fan out like blades. The females are actually rather dull, if I remember it's a mechanic to survive, blend in and protect the young," he explains.
The braiding pauses for a moment before it resumes while they constantly braid and unbraid the feathers. "Females are typically the pretty ones. Why won't you tell me where you're from?" The pouting is obvious in their voice.
Harrow chuckles softly, shoulders shaking slightly which apparently upsets them.
"oh come on, I pay you to protect me, I feed you, the least you can do is tell me where you come from," they whine and smack his shoulder, hurting themself more in the process.
"Some things are best kept a secret," he smiles under the helmet, those little black wings he inherited from his mother fluffing up, like tiny storm clouds.
"Guhhhh! You really are an unknown knight, Harrow."

I made this a few days ago but I finally got the effort to actually end it, even if it is short. Anyways, there might be a part 2, who knows. I'll add this to my master list in a bit.
