The belief in love as a feeling can ruin relationships. It reduces a complex connection to a one-dimensional thing that owes us constant pleasure and joy. It makes love self-centered, rather than transcendent, an experience of something that brings us outdid the lonely limits of our selves. The transformative power of love is tucked inside its ability to bring us into communion with something bigger and maybe more true than what we understand as our individual selves.
