𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 . . . the private offices of the ruling lady , casterly rock . 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 . . . genna lannister ( @knightsfcll ) . 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 . . . flashback to around three - four months ago , after the return of casper lannister .
though it had been some weeks since the reptilian plague within the riverlands had been squashed, the countryside was still healing from the ravenous creatures that had emerged from the swampy riverbeds with thick hides and sharp teeth, leading to a slow crawl through the roads that led back to lannisport as the bodies of man and beasts were cleared from the paths and given proper burials ─ by the time lyonel and his humble travelling party had reached the borders of the westerlands, two weeks had passed, prompting some urgency in his gait as concern over his injured arm was brushed off in favor of riding towards casterly rock to answer the call of his cousin after the news of their undead relative had broken out over the westerlands and the neighboring regions. he knew that it would not take long for the rest of westeros to learn of the returning lannister and though his family now gladly hosted the stranger who happened to bear a resemblance to his dead uncle in lannisport, lyonel had snuck out under the pretense of visiting a few friends, unable to maintain the polite smile that had been plastered upon his features since his return from the riverlands.
( his pained grimaces had been easily attributed to his injuries but he knew that he could not use that as an excuse forever. )
casting a wary glance at the armed guards that stood watch outside of the offices, he knocked on the door with his good arm, the other arm cradled awkwardly to his chest within the sling, before he turned the knob and peered through the crack that the open door made. ❝ genna ... ❞ her name was uttered in a relieved sigh. his features, withdrawn with exhaustion and the lingering ache of having his arm used as a chew toy for a swamp monster, brightened slightly though he could not hide the troubled furrow that formed between his brows as he entered the office, offering her a quick bow. ❝ i came as soon as the news hit the riverlands. it will not be long before the rest of the realm knows ... h --- how are you ? ❞ it was not what he should ask ─ there were many better questions, such as what they were to do or what she needed from him, but as much as jumping into action made sense, he needed to sure that genna was well enough to lead their family through this uncertain time.
