Note to self: have a number of really basic knitting projects going when you take on fine lace-weight lace patterns (especially in a dark color) so you can take a holiday from the fiddly bits — on the plus side, I blocked my qiviut scarf last night

I finished my first hat of the new year! This chunky caramel swirl delight is the Jason’s Cashmere Hat from Melissa Thomson, aka Sweet Fiber in Malabrigo Rios, Dulce de Leche — now it’s off for a good soak!
That’s it. I’m done knitting hats for the year. Happy to wrap things up with a Tincan Knits Antler hat cabled in lovely Malabrigo Rios, colorway Playa and a stranded colorwork hat using up some Malabrigo Rios in Reflecting Pool and a speckly yarn (why do I never remember the names?) from Cascade Yarns that features a colorwork rib (that’s me experimenting) and the Metamorphosis motif from Andrea Rangel’s book “The AlterKnit Stitch Dictionary.”
Oh who am I kidding. I’ve already cast on another one.
What shall I call this hat, Bats out of hell? It’s only appropriate that this bat motif (Escher Bats from “The AlterKnit Stitch Dictionary” by Andrea Rangel) would call out for a Robin to knit it!
The yarns are Malabrigo Rios in Black and Cascade 220 Superwash in Sagebrush
My cable experimentation project no. 1 is a wrap! I picked out a cable pattern* (sand pattern) and worked it into a hat. The decreases were the biggest challenge, figuring out how/where to reduce the crown, but I think it worked out well.
*UP, DOWN, ALL-AROUND STITCH DICTIONARY: MORE THAN 150 STITCH PATTERNS TO KNIT TOP DOWN, BOTTOM UP, BACK AND FORTH, AND IN THE ROUND, Wendy Bernard (Author)
The yarn is Malabrigo Rios but it was an unlabeled skein so I’m not sure if it’s Glazed Carrot or Living Coral (though I’m leaning towards Glazed Carrot)
