#knitting mistakes

Yikes

I could not let this stand here so I had to do some kind of surgery

I did my best to quarantine off the section I needed to take out and procedded to do the scariest thing I've ever fucking knit and take out those like 12 rows

Which led to this fucking monstrosity oh my god I hate it I could destroy the entire project from here holy shit

I then realized that I did not place the bottom needle well and it was actually holding two different rows of stitches

So I figured out where I was, and finished knitting the other half of the partial row to give me this. And technically from here is like the most annoying and stressful magic loop of your life

I didn't take any more progress pics from this point, but it should be noted that this took an hour and was very tedious. I used the gold stitch marker from before to hold onto the strand I was using while the rest were held in the yellow one. Then I just held the yarn very stupidly as I slowly used it up putting the stitches back. Using the stitch marker was really helpful because I could actually hold onto that instead of the yarn for the last few stitches since I had so little yarn left.

It's all done. There are definitely some weird bits that I'm choosing to ignore, and I do think that the issue with the top will be sorted out in the next row

Also I'm still not gonna use a lifeline and honestly this was far enough back before I noticed that it probably wouldn't have helped

Love the cardi I made for Therin but it's too short.

I have removed the zipper, frogged the facings, opened the seams. I will cut the body at chest height, knit some extra inches, and graft the pieces. Do I think this will work? Maybe. But it will teach me something and might (might) redeem an unwearable sweater.

Knitting! It’s happening - and I am loving the cable pattern I picked for the collar/edge cause it’s hiding all sorts of cable mistakes.

Like the image below, that left cable does not match - it’s got a few too many 2 x 2 cables instead of the 2x2x2 braid that’s supposed to be going on 🤣🤣🤣

It’s not the first cable mistake I’ve made, and I bet most people will never notice!

This is the Old Town sweater I made in grey for our state fair - I don’t think I’ll be entering this one. 😂

Gotta love the satisfaction of fixing your mistakes!

I bought this cowl kit because I wanted a fun and quick project after spending so long on my sweater, but clearly I need to pay more attention because this is now the 2nd time I've screwed up the cables and have had to fix mistakes 10+ rows back. This time it was a dropped stitch that I noticed first, which threw off the rest of the pattern. Laddering down and rearranging these traveling stitches is kind of a fun puzzle, but also probably not what I should be doing at 2am. At least it's all better now and I'm sure it definitely won't happen again!

Well this is one way to screw up a hat. I had to discard the other one for the same reason. To small and not enough stretch. I prefer my hats a little more tight and wool is very forgiving.

But alas, way to small. But hey, it works perfect as a cozy for my switch. So thats good! At least this time I'll be sure to not mess up entirely.

If I like too, i think this will fit on a small statue too that I can yarn bomb. I'd have to check.

God damn it. I had to frog out 15 rows because I wasn't paying attention...the thing is I can't figure out how it happened and the only thing I can think of is I slipped the final stitch on my needle and didn't realize it... And on the same side each time!

Is there a way to fix it with a crochet hook without having a frog at 15 rows? I would like to know for future reference

yay~ my first adult-sized cardigan~ a knitting milestone! <(￣︶￣)>

This cardigan took me about 6 months to finish. (it seemed a lot longer than that...) The cardigan is made out of scrap yarn and repurposed abandoned/failed knitting projects. It is a bit heavy for it's size too since it's a mix of cotton, acrylic, bamboo fibers.

I'm just glad it fits me.

I like to call it the pinata cardigan. ( ╹▽╹ )
