Sincerely, me
This isn’t super yandere, and it will be posted on my main tumblr @lokis-knives , but it’s something I thought of and wanted to write. I may be writing a part two, who knows.
warnings: angst, cursing, some fluff

His blue Chevrolet came to a halt in front of the run down Mcdonald’s, located on the city limits of Hawkins. You were seated inside at the cleanest table you could find, your backpack in your lap and your two suitcases seated next to you.
Billy opened the door, and ordered at the cash register. He put a crumpled five dollar bill in the cashiers hand and sauntered over to your table.
“You ready? You all packed?” Billy half smiled, sparking up a cigarette. You shrugged, unzipping your yellow rain jacket.
“I’m not sure, Billy. I’m ready, but… Steve.” The tray of food came, and you took off the apple slices, opening them up and taking one out.
“So, you don’t want to go?” Billy questioned. You shook your head, swallowing.

Your parents were always absent. They were never at home, never came to any important milestone. But Steve did.
You remember in fifth grade, when your school scourged up enough money to hold an elementary school graduation. You called your Aunt Bev, to ask your Dad if he and your mom could come. They never got back to you.
Steve was in the audience, having skipped math class to watch you “walk the stage.” He cheered louder than anyone.
“I want to go say goodbye, Billy. I can’t just disappear on him like that.” Billy opened a sauce packet and poured the contents into his empty burger container.
You looked outside at the rainy night sky. The stars were shining, and the trees seemed bigger. Billy had told you about the California pine trees, the mountains and beaches.
“Bigger than the trees here?” You asked, shifting closer to him.
“Much bigger.” He replied, kissing your forehead. “We’ll go there someday. Leave this place behind, move into my mom’s beach house. Restart.”
Billy got up and put the tray away, then grabbed your suitcases. “Let’s head out.”

The house light was on, which was strange, especially for 1 in the morning. You slowly got out of the car. Before you could open the door, it was swung open by Steve. Robin, Dustin and Eddies head popped out as well
“Where have you been? It’s 1:30 in the morning. We have been looking for you!” Steve pushed you aside. “Is that Billy’s car? Why is he not leaving? Why do you have a backpack on?”
You swallowed your tears and walked inside, or bothering to untie your boots or take off your rain jacket.
“Y/n, what’s going on?” Robin questioned. Steve crossed his arms, looking pissed.
“I…um.” You picked at your fingers, not making eye contact with your brother or friends. “There’s no easy way to say this. But i’m not coming back.” Tears filled the brim of your eyes, and you saw your brother drop down to your height.
“What do mean your not come back?” Steve said in disbelief. Robin sat down next to you and placed a supportive hand on your knee.
“Whats going on? What do you mean your. or coming back?” Eddie started pacing up and down the living room.
“Billy and I are going to California. We were going leave just now, but I wanted to come say goodbye to you, Steve. You don’t deserve to not know where I’m going.”
You stood up, gently holding Robins hand. “I can’t survive here. I barely got a high school diploma. I don’t want to get stuck in a dead end job, or wondering what I could have done to get to a better place, Steve. I need to leave to survive. I’m sorry.”
The rain outside had started to pour, and Billy hit the horn. You looked at Steve, tears streaming down his face.
“Steve…” Before you could finish, he pulled you into a tight hug.
“I know.” He laughed.
“You did?”
“Yeah. When you were in 3rd grade, and you saw a world map, you tried to quiz me. You continually talked about traveling to India, and you asked when we could drive there.” You. it’s laughed. Steve pushed you away and put his hands on your shoulders.
“I don’t want you to go, y/n.” Steve wiped away a tear of your cheek. “But I know you have to.”
You nodded. “I didn’t think it would be this hard.”
“I’m glad you came back.”
“I almost didn’t.”
Billy honked twice.
“Visit?”
“Maybe.” You smiled and started walking towards the door.
“I love you.” You both said simultaneously.
You opened the car door, placing your backpack at your feet. Billy looked over at you.
“You ok?” You nodded.
“I’ll be ok.” Billy placed a hand on your thigh and started driving. You waved one last goodbye to Steve, and the house you grew up in.
In that moment, you knew. You may have fucked up.
