Myra's an artist! As a hobby, but she wants to break into it more professionally. Here's what I imagine an artist's studio in Kno'or might look like.
Kno’orilk country-folk (chiefly those farmers) have a fairly different culture to the city-slickers.
Industry
I’m still going to get to those asks eventually, but first: what industries support the Kno’orilk economy, I hear you ask? You didn’t ask that? Too bad!
A large... a medium-sized area of Kno’or is set aside as farmland. There are farmers who raise animals for eatin’ - you know, meer, kibbala, habble, those kind of things. There’s also plenty of crop-raising. Rice and wheat are the chief grains, while you can also find a large and colourful variety of fruit and vegetables. Many farmers also keep bees (bees on Malleon are the size of small birds).
Kno’or also maintains a mining industry. The caverns beneath the Black Mountains are a wealth of minerals and gemstones. Massive repositories of amber lie deep within the earth, of course, but it’s also where we get ink, taffy, and zeem, Oh, and the stones that are squeezed to make alcohols. Obviously.
As I’m sure you know by now, concept magery is a pretty big deal. People often come from a long way away to have their identity reshaped! It’s the draw of the darkmarkets, of course, and it helps the other stall-owners ply their wares as well.
In addition, Kno’or has a large artistic community. I don’t think I’ve actually talked about the Story-Guilds on tumblr yet? That probably deserves its own post, though.
What lies below the city?
Thieves' dens, cellars and basements. Geartown, which houses the mechanisms which power the Clockwork City. A complex network of natural caves that run deep into the earth. Monstrous subterranean beasts of all kinds. Massive repositories of crystallised amber. A lake of fire. At the heart of the world, Zandar's Hall, home to the gods themselves.
Apsekht
R’chr from Vil lie the great sprawling grasslands of Apsekht, where the people have skin as thick and tough as armour, and the currency is Time. Shards of it are traded among the many villages scattered over and about the plains, bought and sold in the great city of Aauuik.
The Public Baths
With the city streets rife with dust and noise of all kinds, the public baths provide a welcome sanctuary of cleanliness and quiet. The baths are found just off the main square of Agora, and are frequented by people from all social classes and walks of life - whether revolutionist or royalist, urchin or wizard. Oh, and the Kno’orilk’s casual ignorance towards matters of gender extends here, too - all patrons bathe in the same area.
While Kno’or has a monarch, the true power in the city rests with the clockwork wizards. There are currently nine of these, each responsible for maintaining a specific aspect of the mechanisms of the city. Amara, for instance, is responsible for controlling the systems which distribute water throughout the city. Khariel ensures that the buildings and streets move as they should. Tnekh controls the weather.
A Word on Theft
Without any kind of legal system, there is no punishment for minor crimes. Thieves especially have free reign in the city, taking whatever they please. It is up to the individual to defend their possessions themselves. After all, if someone is able to steal something from you, that simply means that they wanted it more than you.
