Hello! I am returned from my holibobs and have dropped by to ask you to dish the goss on "Summer, 1979 (And Other Memories along the Road)"
HOWDY!! @knottreally Thank you for the ask! Hope your holiday was a good one! 💕
Ooooh okay, so the story of Summer, 1979 came up last year when I had really bad writer's block for Tales of Tirinth, and I couldn't figure out how to write Finnr, Liath, and Arne. This was also around the time I fell DEEP into my love for classic rock and 70s metal and just the 70s in general, and it became a way to cope with the stress.
So basically I had this idea of the Trinity being in their 20s in 1979, sticking to their canon ages (the boys being 23 and Liath turning 21 later on), making the original Viking lore and shaping it into either a fictional book series that exists in that 70s America or making it into something that fits with the AU. An example is that the band of warriors that Finnr is part of, he's still part of it and they're still his best friends but in this case they're a rock band.
I also had this question of "How do the three meet?" And decided that on a cross country road trip, and in that road trip they end up falling in love, but are also running away from problems of their own, whether personal or literal problems, and learning how to live together in a small Volkswagen 1969 van.
But in essence, the Trinity is the same! Liath still gets her hands broken, Finnr still gets his scars, Arne is still a crafty levelheaded guy that shares the braincell with Liath, but only this time they lived their childhoods through the psychedelic sixties and their teenage/early adult years through turbulently colorful 70s! I even made a playlist for it and plan on adding more stuff to the AU lol 😅
Liath's still having funky dreams (that may not possibly past life memories 👀) and she's a hippie with some strong opinions
Arne is a metalhead with his heart worn on his sleeve.
Finnr's still into the occult and magic, but in this he just also happens to like Judas Priest and Motörhead.
I've been writing it out since May of last year, and it's very rough, but it's been helping me develop these characters better for Canon and just to see how this story ends!
