9/4 Writing Journal
Wow. When I first opened up Spaces for Writing, I wasn’t too happy to see that it was 68 pages. Within those 68 pages though, I learned a lot about writing. Some interesting things I realized were that some modes don’t really mesh well with others, and you have to be careful which you put together that way your message can be clearly sent to the audience. It also helped me realize that no writing is really private. While you may think a text is private, it isn’t and can be shared with others even if that wasn’t your intention. I also learned about visual literacy! This is learning to “read into” a picture and what is being conveyed. Some people may look at it differently then you which is why you must be careful when creating your own, that way someone doesn’t accidentally take it the wrong way. I also really liked reading about Ethos, Pathos, and Logos because it helped me to connect it to everyday life! Ethos (ethics) is making sure that everything you say/do is ethical and won’t hurt someone. Pathos (empathy) is being empathetical towards others and what they may be dealing with in life right now. Finally, Logos (logistics) is like the reason and judgement behind your actions. All of these things helped me to better understand writing and how to effectively share my ideas with others.
For my two rhetorical strategies, I used linguistic and visual. I feel as though I can share my thoughts and ideas better through text (linguistic) and I like having pictures (visual) to tie my words together into something fun. The reason I chose this specific gif is because that was very similar to my reaction when I finally understood Spaces for Writing and how it was going to help me write better!
