Gym class

I entered a new school which was 61% Latino, coming from a school which was 79% white/Caucasian, so I was in gym class playing basketball and almost all the kids playing kept shouting "aquí! Aquí!" And I just didn't understand why they were calling out for aquí... Why is aquí so cool aquí isn't listening to you anyway so you should just stop calling out for aquí aquí doesn't like you he obviously isn't going to pass you the ball aquí is to cool for you. So I confronted the new friend I made and asked her who aquí was and she laughed at me and walked away, so I started asking around who the hell this aquí kid was that everyone loved but no one would tell me they would just laugh and walk away... Then my teacher came up to me, laughing and said aquí actually means "here" in Spanish and for the rest of the year everyone called me Aquí
