Why should you read “Fahrenheit 451”? - Iseult Gillespie
story time:
I had class with one of the sisters from WII last semester. it's kind of rare since most english literature classes are filed with white people. so I never really have class with other muslims, but this was a history class and she was in it. Basically, she missed the day of the midterm, but the professor allowed her to make up for it because it was during the time of the hurricane and things were sorta messy everywhere. I took the midterm for the class two days earlier than her. and she sent me 1232321124329 calls. when I finally picked up, her first question was "so how was the midterm? what terms were on it? and what essays?" -____-
SInce i was feeling nice and charitable at such a terrible time for nyc, I decided to help her out. but she did the SAME exact thing for the final. constant calling and facebk messages. I swear....some people just don't learn. I considered being a jerk and telling her that cheating is wrong so I won't help her out. but honestly, she KNOWS cheating is wrong. Mashallah, she is a practicing muslim. she is well aware of it.
Two days ago, she came up to me in the club room to ask how I did in that class, and I told her I did well. She told me she got a C+ and she didn't understand why because she did well on the midterm and final. the professor told her she was absent too many times.
just goes to show doesn't it. Don't do wrong things, even if they seem right at the moment. Cheating doesn't help you get anywhere in life. This isn't high school. This is college. And academia as well as gaining knowledge requires seriousness, sincerity and integrity.
I hate people who degrade knowledge in these ways. (and i am aware of how strong the word 'hate' it.)
