Lookie what I found! This is a colonial siphonophore like the Portuguese Man O War and the Vellela. Took this shot earlier this week where it washed up with hundreds like it in Hollywood FL. With all of this wind it's been bringing all kinds of critters. I have never seen one of these before in my life but assumed it was a cousin on the POW and began my research. These are common in the Pacific, Indian and Atlantic. 💙🌎 , they love to eat Copepods and crustacean larvae and get preyed upon by the beautiful sea slug Glaucus atlanticus (the beautiful sea-swallow, dragony-blue looking slug 😜). SOOO COOL! #lifelessonsfrommarinebiologist #bluemind #knowlesknow #vitaminsea 🐠💦
