Ranpo was honestly kinda mesmerised when he first saw you. The way you styled your clothes, the way your hair sat perfectly down to the way you walked and talked. He thought it was all perfect

He was definitely a little more shy and quiet when first getting to know you, he didn't want to mess up his shot

He felt like the luckiest man in the world when he started dating you

Catches himself unintentionally staring at you rather frequently

Definitely gets lost in your eyes while talking

Although he tries his best to listen to every word you say - he loved your voice

DAZAI:

Knew from the second he saw you that he wanted to date you

He was extremely flirtatious when he first met you. That never really stopped after you got into a relationship with him

Pretends to be blinded by your beauty, dramatically shielding his eyes

He's awful at identifying smells. He tries to guess the smell of your perfume/cologne and fails every time

He loves getting the opportunity to take photos with you so he can look back on them later

When he first met you he was quite intrigued, he knew he wanted you close to him so that he could observe you

Mary's fingers moved deftly across the broken terrain of her son's skin. It was bruised and scarred, pale between blotches of purple, green, and yellow. But what concerned Mary most was the deep slash across Samuel's abdomen, stretching from his navel to just under his rib cage. She pressed a towel to the terrible wound, but his blood soaked through it in seconds.

"Mom?" Samuel gasped. He raised his head and looked at the mess of his stomach.

Mary seized his chin in her hand and squeezed. "Be still," she hissed with a hard shake. Mary used to fight with her husband when he manhandled Nath—Samuel the way she just did. But she didn't let herself think about that right now. Not when it was his knife that had carved death into her child's stomach.

Beads of sweat clung to Samuel's skin and his complexion was quickly turning gray. He was close to unconsciousness, approaching something worse.

Hospital, the word was like a siren in Mary's head. He needs to go to the hospital. Mary squeezed her eyes closed and shut the thought down. Hospitals were out of the question. She would deal with this herself.

She used the needle and thread she'd stocked in the first aid kit to stitch Samuel's skin back together. Samuel had passed out halfway through, and Mary was both relieved he'd stopped squirming and panicked over how still he was. Between stitches she checked his breathing and pressed trembling fingers to the weak pulse in his throat, terrified she would feel nothing. By the time she was done, her hands were stained and hurting from handling the curved needle. The sutures were uneven, but they held Samuel's skin together well enough, and there was nothing else she could do.

He was so small. So small and gray wrapped in the thin motel blankets. Mary didn't sleep that night. Instead she hovered over Samuel's prone form and watched his chest rise and fall like a hawk. Periodically she checked his bandages. She vowed to herself that she would keep him alive or die trying.

Mary pressed her palm to Samuel's forehead and pushed back his sweat-slick hair out of his face as he slept. He looked so much like his father that it sent a sick shudder through Mary's body. She would dye his hair before they left, and try to find colored contacts for him. But for now, she let him rest.

"Abram," she whispered, brushing her fingers over the faint traces of blood still smeared across his face. "Abram," she said, over and over until morning came.

A/N — Oh you have NO IDEA how much I've been thinking about writing something like this. Also back from my short break, hello again

RANPO:

He loves it

Having someone around that he doesn't deem stupid makes things much more interesting for him

You understand him in ways nobody else does. And you both have a unique understanding of the world due to your intellegence. It's such a breath of fresh air having you around

He loves to challenge you. It's lots of fun for him

Although he's very competitive about it lol

At first felt a little uneasy about it given that he was meant to be the one who was the hyper-intelligent prodigy. He was a little worried he might be replaced. His concerns subsided when he got to know you though

Overall he's grown to become very fond of you

DAZAI:

Has very mixed feelings about it initially. He doubted your claims until you proved yourself and felt uneasy about how you could easily outsmart him. There was some tension between you two at first

He grew to feel less uncomfortable about it over time but still has his moments

Enjoys having highly philosophical conversations with you and discussing things that regular people might not understand as much

100% plays chess with you

He doesn't like that you can easily come to accurate conclusions about him and see through his lies. He would prefer if you didn't look into him that much

He makes teasing and playful comments about it

If you don't already, he encourages you to join the Armed Detective Agency

Tests your intelligence pretty often

He likes solving puzzles with you, especially riddles

On the very rare occasion that he outsmarts you he boasts about it a lot. You still hear about it months later

FYODOR:

He's not a fan of it

He prefers to have a partner who's naive and doesn't question things; it makes them easier to manipulate. Unfortunately for him you're the complete opposite

He likes playing chess with you. He analyses each of your moves very closely

Although he doesn't voice it, he probably feels slightly threatened by you being more intelligent. He likes to have complete control over situations which is difficult with you

There's definitely unspoken tension between you both

He sets up mysteries and puzzles for you to solve

If you fail he uses it against you to try and make you doubt yourself

Questions your intelligence verbally

You can see through him and it makes him uncomfortable. If you point out his lies and manipulation he denies it

He has rather deep conversations with you. Especially about religion and humanity

KUNIKIDA:

When you first joined the Armed Detective Agency, he quickly picked up on how clumsy you were. Constantly dropping things or bumping into people

The sound of stationary hitting the ground was irritating at first, it was a distraction from his work

One day you bumped into him while he was carrying a stack of paperwork. He definitely got annoyed and snapped a little because tidying it up made him a few minutes behind schedule

He felt bad after though as it wasn't intentional

Commented on it less and helps you pick up the items you drop or cleans up any spilled drinks.

Also assists in treating any cuts or gashes you might get while lecturing you about being more careful

DAZAI:

On your first day you knocked over a vase

Dazai teased you a LOT that day

He teases you quite a bit about how clumsy you are, making comments about how he simply doesn't understand how it's possible to be so clumsy

He stifles laughter every time he hears your exasperated sighs after your clumsiness results in a commotion

I feel like he'd find it endearing. I think he'd find it cute and use it as a way to get closer to you

Would help you pick up any fallen paperwork, dramatically sighing as he complains about how strenuous it is picking up what you drop

Despite his complaints, he enjoys it.

If you go to pick up something, he sometimes "coincidentally" goes to grab it at the same time to end up touching your hand

RANPO:

Thinks it's funny. I think he might tease you a little for it. Although if he notices you get embarrassed or upset by it he would knock it off and stop commenting on it

Places objects on your desk in places he that thinks you would be less likely to knock them over

If he notices you placed your cup too close to the edge of your desk he moves it closer to the center to avoid any unnecessary spills

Covers the edges of your desk in edge protectors so that you don't hurt yourself

FUKUZAWA:

Definitely would not tease or mock you for it

He would either not acknowledge as not to embarrass you or assist you in picking anything fallen up quietly without commenting on it too much

Or if you bump into him, he might take the blame for it

Wants to avoid embarrassing you as much as possible

Might help give some advice to help you become less clumsy

RANPO:

When you first told him how rich you were he was slightly shocked at first. You were SERIOUSLY rich

He loves that you buy him things. He gets very excited about it.

Ranpo's very grateful for anything you buy him, he happily takes anything you give to him

He absolutely loves when you buy him candy, especially if it's the slightly more expensive candy that he usually wouldn't buy himself. He keeps a stash exclusively reserved for that candies you buy him

Once whined about how much he wanted a rather expensive item and was slightly surprised at how quickly and casually you said you would buy it for him

He definitely expresses his gratitude quite a lot when you get him things, he wants to make it clear that he does really appreciate it

DAZAI:

At first denied your attempts to spoil him, claiming he should be the one to spoil you (spoiler alert: he spends all of his money on bandages and cheap booze)

It started with you gifting him sake or bandages every now and then. After that you started buying him some more expensive things

Although he doesn't voice it that often, he does look forward to seeing what little gifts you get him

He occasionally buys you things as well, although he doesn't have a lot of money as he wastes most of it. He isn't as rich as you are, he does enjoy buying you nice things every so often as a thank you

He's rather happy for the rest of the day after you buy him something

He definitely shows you off and brags about you

Occasionally jokes about how it should be the other way around and the he should be the spoiler instead of the spoiled

FYODOR:

He isn't overly interested in gifts; he's not very materialistic and doesn't really care an awful lot for that kind of thing. He thinks he has everything he needs already

That being said, he will still take care of any object you gift him

He was taken off guard when you first started gifting him things

At first tried to decline frequent gifts from you but you definitely wore him down, he accepts them now

He's very polite about them. He always responds with a smile and a thank you

Although he does encourage you to buy something practical like tools, meals or ingredients over sentimental objects

He (very rarely) asks for things that could be useful to the DOA from you. If you're willing to spoil him he'll gladly take advantage of it

He reciprocates frequently. He enjoys buying you things too, although he isn't as rich as you are

Teases you about your wealth and makes light-hearted jokes about it

He keeps a little drawer on his desk of items you've gifted him

KUNIKIDA:

Definitely denies expensive gifts at first and tries to pay for everything himself. He doesn't want you to waste money on him, or that's how he sees it anyway

Although after realising you can very much afford it and you do it out of love for him he becomes less hesitant

He feels rather guilty about it despite knowing he shouldn't have a reason to

Tries to get you not to spoil him too much

Definitely gets a little flustered by it

He does appreciate it though, especially when you get him practical things like cleaning supplies or replacements for broken household items

Once you bought him a book that he had been talking about how he was thinking of reading. He was incredibly grateful that day, he still keeps the book in pristine condition

RANPO:

He picks up that something is wrong very quickly. Your mannerisms changed and you seemed rather quiet and distressed

While he isn't very good at comforting, he does try his best

He listens very closely when you vent about your day and takes note of any issues you had, nodding intently every so often

He offers you some of his candy stash in hopes that it makes you happier

More than happy to hug you if it brings you comfort. He's better at comforting you with physical affection and gifts than with words

Checks up on you throughout the day to see if you feel any better

Tries to eliminate any further causes of stress

KUNIKIDA:

The second he realises something is wrong he pauses what he's doing to check in on you

He's a very good listener. He makes sure to make it clear that your concerns are listened to carefully

If there's anything he can do to directly help with what has been stressful he will gladly aid you. If not he will gladly be a shoulder to cry on and help you out with any other daily tasks to make your day slightly better

Very good at comforting you with his words. He spends a lot of time reassuring you and trying to cheer you up. If you like physical affection he would be more than happy to hug you

Definitely buys you something nice in an attempt to make you feel a little better. Like your favourite meal, a nice dessert or a small plush toy

He cares deeply about you and will do whatever he can to comfort you and improve your mood

FYODOR:

Like Ranpo, Fyodor is also very good at telling when something is wrong

He rather bluntly asks you what's bothering you

Pays close attention to everything you tell him and allows you to vent if you would like to

If there's a problem that he can intervene with, consider it taken care of the second you tell him about it. He will do his best to ensure it's no longer a problem

If not? He provides words of encouragement. Fyodor is good with his phrasing and the way he speaks

While he isn't incredibly fond of physical affection, he would be willing to hug you if it was comforting to you. He may be slightly awkward with it though

He's more considerate of you that day. Slightly more gentle too

RANPO:

He had been lazily watching you cook while filling out paperwork for the Armed Detective Agency. After smelling what your cooking was like he begged you to let him try some

When you agreed he was ecstatic

Inhaled the food that you gave him. Although he didn't give himself much of a chance to savour the flavours of the meal he knew it was fantastic

Happily praised your cooking skills and most certainly asked for seconds

He definitely asked you to cook for him at some point in the future and celebrated when you agreed to the request

From then on he always got excited when he realised you were cooking. It's the highlight of his day trying the delicious meals you create

Definitely wonders to himself how on earth you manage to cook everything so well

DAZAI:

He had just got home from work and spotted you cooking in the kitchen. Dazai, being Dazai, naturally took on the duty of investigating further

He was very nosy (and annoying) throughout the process

Dazai himself is a terrible cook but doesn't want to waste the materials used so usually just eats the abominations he creates or orders takeout when he can afford it, so he was very curious about how your cooking compared to his

When he got to finally taste your cooking he loved it

Loudly exclaimed how much he loved the food

He now begs you rather frequently to make him meals. He whiles about how your good is so much better than his and compares your meals to eating a meal crafted in heaven itself

When you doubted his claims about how awful his cooking was he set fire to the kitchen

You now do most of the cooking

ATSUSHI:

After almost dying from starvation after leaving the orphanage he gained quite an appetite. He could always eat no matter the time nowadays

When he got home after doing groceries then the smell of a delicious meal hit him

When he found you in the kitchen putting portions onto a plate for yourself he sheepishly asked if there were any extras that he could try. Luckily for him you had made quite a lot

Immediately wolfed down the contents of the plate very quickly, clearing the plate entirely

You know when you experience something so good that you shed a tear? Yeah that was definitely him

He absolutely loves your food. He complimented your skills and asked if you had ever thought about becoming a chef

Sighed and cheerfully commented on how lucky he was to get to try some of your cooking. He's a very grateful man
