Studio execs apparently. It’s cheap drama. Easier than writing actually complex relationship struggles.

Yeah, apparently it’s more influenced by the original comic? I haven’t seen the other two movies, so maybe they sucked really bad. The new film *does* have a better score on Rotten Tomatoes, though still a rotten one...
It’s just... weird. Like, yeah, sometimes people bring things and do a great job but this whole “we must keep trying and trying to make this work, no matter what, as long as we can keep the rights thing” is pretty pathetic.
