Protector. Brother. Rebel. He’d been given many titles ever since they touched the ground, but Bellamy knew that everything he had done, both the monstrous as the noble, always came with the knowledge that he was doing exactly what he should be doing. Whether it was for his sister, Clarke, himself, or just the survival of his people in general, he did what needed to be done at the time. Some he regretted, even felt an unbearable guilt for, but what was done simply couldn’t be undone. So he tried to do better now. Didn’t she understand that? “I’m not trying to be who they want me to be,” he explained as he searched her gaze with own. He was mainly doing what his loved ones needed from him. Loved ones like O and her. Could she see that in his eyes now? And at the core, he was still Bellamy. He was even more himself than when he first got to Earth and tried to keep the group in check by acting a lot crueler than he was at heart –than the man his mother raised him to be. “I’m just doing what has to be done, Clarke. –For us. All of us.”
maybe she didn’t exactly phrase it the best of ways. should she correct herself? what would it really matter, to be honest. all she could seem to offer was a soft smile, though it was faint on her pale lips. her eyes matched, in a sense, granted there was a sadness behind them that she was desperately trying to hide & hoping she was achieving it.
“ what i meant was that you need to stop worrying about what others think of you. you might say you don’t, but i know you do. “ after all, she should take her own advice because she was sure people were looking at her much differently than when they first landed. she had morals back then & now? who knew. maybe she was losing herself to this damn planet, but even just being in his presence it was as if she was pulled more into reality, where she believed in her actions, if even for a minute. maybe because he believed in her & vice versa.
