KnY Kampaboko Squad Ships controversial hot takes + reasons and Manga Spoilers! (if I put my Hashira or other KnY ship hot takes here or anywhere, it’ll probably become a huge warzone or ground zero. So I’ll keep my mouth shut on that in case the rabid dogs come after my ass… Not just bc I’ve seen the other shippers acting way more defensive/pissy than the Kampaboko ones. It’s like the former take things infinitely more seriously than the latter just bc a few are canon or just popular in yuri/yaoi circles.)

GenNezu ~ SenNezu > KanaNezu > MuiNezu > ZenNezu

For the aforementioned two, I saw the cute fanart and liked it very much. SenNezu and GenNezu have rare fan content compared to the latter two.

While I’m aware that Kanao first tried to kill Nezuko, it surprisingly makes a cute yuri ship especially in slayer!Nezuko AUs.

Used to like MuiNezu months ago but it wasn’t really interesting anymore… Didn’t Muichiro actually stood by w/ the rest of the Hashiras as Sanemi stabbed demon!Nezuko?

So GenNezu all the way cuz it’s becoming my comfort KnY AU ship since 2024.

Zenitsu as a character is bearable and funny. But as a romantic partner with Nezuko, he isn’t the best…

Eyyy it’s the popular yaoi and het ships in most KnY fanfics! I’m annoyed at some rabid MuiTan and ZenTan writers demonizing poor Kanao, even having her killed off… so 3+ in a relationship is the true happy ending lol! So Tanjiro-kun’s happy with his lovers!

GenTan is cute but I’m more of a MuiTan and GenNezu person.

ZenTan is way more bearable than ZenNezu platonically and romantically no matter what.

InoAoi > InoTan ~ GenTanIno > InoNezu > InoGen > InoZen

The het ship is rather cute, wild guy and mannered girl.

Heh, InoTan is more of a guilty pleasure but still cute ship. Though things are more interesting with Genya in the mix.

InoNezu is actually cuter than the ZenNezu ship.

InoGen is seemingly two tough guys who’ve been calmed down by the sweet kind Tanjiro. It’s kinda like GenMui/MuiGen to a degree, commonality connection due to a few traits or just a scene.

InoZen isn’t that interesting. They’d have too many arguments and imbalanced dynamics.

It’s possible or implied that Aoi has a crush on Tanjiro but let it go out of respect for her friend Kanao.

AoiGen seems to be a “mean couple” on the surface but they’re actually kind ppl.

AoiMui is seemingly a stoic couple type ship.

MARIMUI INFODUMP 💜🩵

💜 Mari has never smiled back at anyone besides her sister before, but Muichiro changed that as she smiled back at him a few days after meeting him. His kindness was just too much for her not to feel giddy.

🩵 Between who fell first and who fell harder… Both answers go to Muichiro. He fell for Mari after seeing her smile for the first time ever, and everything she did was just… enchanting to him. And then Muichiro fell harder for her after his memories returned. He noticed that she was still the same (or almost the same)… Just happier and more open. That smile of hers was just so contagious to him and his heart throbs every little gesture she does, especially directed to him. He couldn’t help but fall harder.

💜 Mari believed her feelings for him disappeared after he lost his memories and became a whole different person, hence why she was oblivious to her own feelings until his memories returned.

🩵 Muichiro is usually a guy that focuses on logic mainly. He doesn’t see importance in focusing with emotions or such. But with Mari, even unintentionally, he becomes different around her. He sometimes felt like his emotions get in the way everytime her presence is there. He feels his heart rate increasing everytime, and he doesn’t know why. He feels iffy everytime she spends time with another guy or becomes affectionate with her cousins/sister, but he always excused it with her needing to focus on training more. He was also quite oblivious to his own feelings until his memories returned.

🩵 Post-memory Muichiro would also realize Mari returns the same feelings as well, and while it does make him happy and relieved she likes him back, he doesn’t say anything. He knows the risk of being a hashira and especially with the upcoming war, he could likely die so he never directly admitted as well.

🩵 Muichiro was already pretty affectionate prior, but after his memories returned, it was like a total switch as he became more physically affectionate with her the same as when they were younger. Mari was flustered about this, of course.

💜 When Amane told the hashiras about the curse of the mark, Mari was really shocked and upset. She didn’t try to show it, though. It also made her feel less confident in confessing her love to Muichiro. This also caused Mari not to speak to Muichiro for a day or two.

🩵 I also like to believe that even though Muichiro seemed calm, he was also upset as he wouldn’t be able to live a fulfilling life with Mari.

💜 Mari was in the swordsmith village the same time as Muichiro. She arrived a day prior and she also left the day before the uppermoons showed up. During her time there, she and Muichiro spent their time together. Since Mari’s sword was broken, she could only watch him train, to which she’s disappointed. Apart from training, they spent time exploring the village, forest and even went to the hotsprings together to recover their bodies.

💜🩵 While in the hotsprings, Mari was nervous as she thought the water was deep, so Muichiro tested it out and assured her it wasn’t that deep. He didn’t understand why she was nervous about it…

🩵 Despite Muichiro’s not-so-good memory, he remembers Mari’s favorite food is croquettes… Mainly because Mari rambles on about it so much, especially about her sister’s cooking…

💜 Mari has a habit of getting distracted, but while it has gotten better, she still gets distracted so whenever Muichiro and her are in a joint mission together, he makes sure Mari stays focused (Even though her crow does that job…)

🩵 Muichiro keeps every gift Mari gives him. Even the ones he believes won’t have any use. Sometimes, he even holds one of them, looking at every detail and cherishing it.

💜 Mari loves showcasing and infodumping about bugs/insects to him since he’s the only one who doesn’t showcase any fear/disgust towards it.

🩵💜 Their favorite thing to do when they’re bored is to either fold origamis together or cloudgaze.

💜 Mari brings bandages around her at all times, so whenever Muichiro gets hurt, she always patches it up for him. She always kisses the bandage afterwards, which was just a habit she picked up from her sister. She was oblivious to the fact that gesture fluttered his heart.

🩵 Muichiro loves kissing Mari. He loves her lips especially but he loves kissing her in general.

🩵 In an AU where they both lived after the finale battle, Muichiro would kiss her scars since she’s often insecure about it, especially since she can’t cover them up. He assures her that she’s still pretty and the scars don’t ruin it at all.

💜 Mari became a total shut in after her sister’s death, and also quite hysterical. Even though it was tough, Muichiro made sure to be there for her no matter what. Also promising her that he’ll make her smile again one way or another.

🩵💜 After Mari became better (mentally), they both got engaged and married. Even having twin sons and a younger daughter.
