{ ♕ }– “I’m sure Miss Yasaka will be pleased to know her calligraphy is selling so well,” Espresso said to a worker who was crossing out the price on one the artist’s paintings. She turned to face the guests once more, and looked through the crowd.
Her smile soon changed once she recognized a face. “...Who let him in?” She mumbled to herself as she straightened her posture. She simply let out a sigh as she looked for a place to hide herself. He was not here for her--right? Surely he was not seeking revenge after what had happened. Well, at least he wasn’t so cruel to do it in public like this.
Espresso knew to pick her victims carefully--what she was not aware of was that she was his victim. It was surprising to be on the other end of things. Even though he had “let her go,” if she could really call it that, it took her months to heal. It was horrifying to step outside and be afraid of just one man coming back to finish the job. She didn’t want him to do that now.
The noble began to walk away, but his voice chimed and called out her name. She closed her eyes and thought, Perhaps I should create a “do not allow” list next time.
Once the male came to her, she let out a weak smile. “Mr. Stanfield,” she began, “what a pleasant surprise. What brings you here? As you are aware the event is open to the public...but I did not expect your presence at all. I figured you were busy.”
{ ♕ }– Everyone seemed to be enjoying the party--from the messy eater to the mysterious, blind man. However, when her eyes scanned the gallery, Espresso noticed a man off towards the side staring at a painting empty-handed. He appeared to be uninterested in the artwork, and she was a little disappointed.
She began to approach him, stopping once to grab two glasses of champagne (they both could be for her, but she wasn’t rude.) Once she reached the man, she held one glass out to him, and teased as she turned to look at the painting, “it seems like you are enjoying the party.”
“Perhaps a drink or two will help?” her lips curved into a smile as she took a sip from her glass, “the dark reds evoke the idea of bleeding. Perhaps that was the intent of the artist. Although that would be a little morbid for a painting of a child, don’t you agree?”
Today is Espresso’s gala! I wrote an open for those who didn’t ask me to write starters for them. I’ll be posting two starters every 30 minutes starting at 4:00 EST though so :) look forward to that.
Thank you for those “attending!” Don’t forget this event never ends unless you want it to--and you can write starters tomorrow or something if you want. treat it as any other event!! Just know that the event’s setting is Friday September 18th, around 6PM to 12/1/2/3AM.

{ ♕ }– There was something interesting about meeting new people. Espresso, for once, enjoyed making connections. Perhaps it was all apart of being a noble, but events such as the one she was currently hosting were things she needed in order to stay entertained.
She walked quietly across the room, with a glass of champagne in her hand, as she went to approach the most recent guest to enter.
“Welcome,” she began, “it’s nice to meet you. Espresso Beans. I’m glad you could come.”
A large smile was present, and she extended her free hand to shake.
You receive a pink envelope in your mailbox along with the other mail (advertisements, catalogs, etc.) Curious, you open up the envelope up first. It appears to be an invitation!
The invitation is to a formal party at the Koi Art Gallery, hosted by Espresso Beans, next Friday (September 18th, 2015.) The purpose of the event seems to be promoting rising artists. Reading further into the invitation tells you that you can contact the hostess to provide services (of course you’ll be paid), and/or talk to her if you have any questions. You flip the invitation over, and it says in large text, “PLEASE RVSP BY SEPTEMBER 15TH, 2015 IF YOU WISH ON ATTENDING.” You make note of it.
You know you’ll consider going to the party. You’ll finally be able to wear that fancy outfit of yours!

--ABOUT THE GALA
The gala is a formal event, so no jeans and sneakers! You know how it is with these types of events. Dresses, skirts, high heels, tuxedos, dress shirts, etc. are the appropriate clothing to wear. If you need examples, look up “black-tie event clothes.” This gala was created by Espresso to promote rising artists and for people of Koi to have a good time being dressed up. Everyone is invited, no matter their status.
(Yes--before you ask, your character can write Espresso a letter saying they cannot afford/do not have black-tie clothes. Yes, she will pay for it.)
It takes place inside of the Koi Art Gallery, which looks like kind of like a home. (You can find more information about it in the entertainment section on the KNY page.) If you need an idea of how an art museum looks, if you’ve never seen one, here is a google image search.
There will be food, drinks, and entertainment. However, I [the mun] don’t have any actual catering/entertainment planned--it’s just up to the threaders’ imaginations. If you are interested in “helping out” at the gala, Espresso will be paying at least 1,000 Koins (Koi’s currency if you don’t remember) for quality catering and at least 2,000 Koins/hour for the best music and voices around. (Just message me and we can organize that.)

-- You must be affiliated with Koi no Yokan to attend this party. But on the bright side, you do not need to be following me to attend! As long as you are a part of KNY, I do not mind. It says on the invitation anyone can come along, after all.

-- Even though the invitation says the party is on September 18th, threads can go on for however long you would like--just like actual KNY event threads. The party never ends if you don’t want it to!
