TO THE DMV...
I've waited til the last minute to write about this past weekend and the past 5 years in this dance community.
This past COALESCENCE 2014 was the best goodbye ever. I never thought that a small idea in my head would turn out to be one of the greatest accomplishments of my life. Not because of it's success, but because of the people who come out to it. The dancers that came out, and that have always come out, take one weekend out of their schedules and let it be all about dance, family, and love. Everyone left their hearts on the stage and the audience accepted them whole, no judgments or criticisms. Thats what I wanted. I wanted SOMETHING that would help grow the community and allow the DMV to flourish and have their own spotlight without it being a competition.
I was thanked many times for COALESCENCE this weekend, and I accepted it graciously, however what I wanted to say was, Thank you.
To every single person who has come out to COALESCENCE, KODACHROME, any event in the DMV, thank you. Whether you taught me personally, I just came to watch your dance, you had one on one conversations with you, or just supporting the dance community in general, you have made the biggest impact on my life that I can never repay, but i will try. You have helped me in giving me a direction in life and helped me in giving me the confidence and strength, to be the woman I am today. I love you all and I hope that I can make you all proud.
