J. Cole - 2014 Forest Hills Drive (2014) I've only listened to this album from front to back a couple times back when it was first released. My first impression was it was just ok. After listening to it again years later is has grown on me a bit. There's some great tracks on here and also some not so great tracks. My problem with J. Cole is he always seems to want to tell stories about his life when in reality.. I don't really care enough about J. Cole to listen to all these story time tracks. It's just not a good way to make an entertaining track in my opinion. Maybe a more hard core Cole fan could appreciate songs like 03' adolescence, or Hello more than a casual listener like myself could. I'm not saying i don't like the album. It has a lot of great moments My absolute favourite song on the album is No role modelz. It's catchy, fun. Lyrical and full of energy; everything I want from a J. Cole track. I also enjoy Fire Squad a lot and Love Yourz. It's such an uplifting track. I even enjoy Wet Dreamz, but mostly as an entertaining novelty track with some TMI bars. At the end of the day There's no really bad tracks here, they all have there place on the album. Some are great and some are just ok. I only ever return to 2 or 3 tracks on here in reality. I wish J. Cole could up the entertainment factor and have a bit more energy in some tracks.Nonetheless it's still a very solid project in J.
