Twist of Fate
An enormous boom was heard overhead within the storm filled skies. What could have been made out was some meteor streaking towards the earth, heading for a small lake. As it approached, it was some kind of airship, caught on fire as it plummeted towards the Black Shroud. A few moments after identifying it, it smashed into the side of the lake, throwing up a massive amount of debris, sand, and water as he hurtled almost a hundred yards before the impact finally stopped it.
Koh'li was not far from his humble cottage in the area when he had heard the loud boom; sending his mind into a state of the past and giving him cause to stand still in momentary fear of the memories that flooded his mind that last time such a terrible noise echoed from the skies above. Shaking his head firmly, the miqo'te took a deep breath and steadied his relapse in time and returned to the here and now. The sound of impact was not very far from the sounds of it, and of course - he hightailed it into that direction to see just what the seven hells was going on.
Approaching the scene, Koh'li gasped under his breath and adjusted his thin rimmed glasses accordingly to gain a better perspective with his not so great sight. Lingering within the bushes, safe within the shadow of the Shroud, he peered ahead looking for any sign of trouble he did not wish to approach on his own. To confirm, he eyeballed the sky above for any additional airships, especially Garlean in nature - as what he saw the most of. When he was sure there were no other threats looming above - he mumbled a sort of prayer to himself and proceeded ahead towards the wreckage.
"Hello?" He coughed, inhaling the fumes from the smoke and debris, waving his hand in front of his face. "Are there any survivors?"
There was smoke and fire bellowing from the airship. Koh'li looked long enough to spot another person near the front of the ship where it was clear. A large and powerful looking Garlean in only the most ornate and advanced armor was stabbed through the side of the chest. The cockpit seat was mangled and one of the reinforced bars was jammed through him like a spear. From a distance the person in question didn't look very alive. Blood ran from the wound and there was an impressive amount of it underneath of him. His eyes were closed as he was propped up against the chair, his arms hanging beside him as blood trickled from his mouth.
Koh'li gasped, eyeballing the condition the obvious pilot had been in. Spotting the man in Garlean armor was not enough to alarm Koh'li, it had been the unmistakable third eye pure Garleans had upon their forehead. Almost turning around and avoiding the scene completely, the Keeper sighed with his back turned to the man - it didn't matter who it was to him, his line of work, his dedication involved helping those in distress and unfortunate for him, a Garlean in a situation like this was not out of the scorecard here.
For a moment, he questioned what his peers within the Conjurer's Guild might do, but then he further dove into himself - and it was when he did this, he turned back around and made haste for the injured man. "Weak pulse," Koh'li muttered to himself, pressing upon the point upon the Garlean's exposed neck - his eyes driving to where a stab wound seemed to appear. "You're going to be alright."
Channeling the elements around him, thankful for the source of something as pure as water nearby - Koh'li conjured the purest form of aether in this form and began to soothe the gapping wound first. Once he had finished this, he began rummaging through his satchel; looking for a vial of one of his potions - something to aid in bringing the man to a more conscious state as he worked to free him from the grips of the wreckage. "I'm Koh'li and I am going to try to get you out of here," he stated, forcing the green liquid down the man's throat. "I need you to move with me. Carefully."
The Garlean coughed from the magic and potion entering his body. However, it looked like it was not working. Something else looked to be ailing him like some kind of powerful poison. The wound did not seal from the wreckage like it should have. The Garlean weakly pointed to a hidden side satchel within an armored compartment of his leg. Inside was a syringe full of bright blue thick liquid. It has a build in injector pin that looked to administer the serum through a small needle. He then pointed to his neck as his arm was shaking violently.
Koh'li ceased his movements in attempting to pull the man out and paid attention to what he was trying to demonstrate as best he could. Doing as directed, Koh'li eyeballed the injection needle with the blue liquid curiously - whatever was within here? Not much time to really delve deeper into that, Koh'li nodded and jabbed the needle into the man's neck - injecting the serum, while doing what he could to try and produce enough aether to fight back whatever was fighting against the healing efforts he channeled into the man.
It was like as if someone hit Arcuris with a bolt of lightning as the liquid passed through his system. His eyes grew wide, and attentive like some wild animal stuck in a trap. He snarled, grabbing the piece of metal sticking out of his side and snapping it like it was just a small stick. The wounds started to seal underneath his armor but could not be seen to the eye unless one looked close enough. The Garlean tossed the metal into the water beside him and he slowly stood up. His wounds no longer bled and he breathed heavily as he looked from side to side. He then spotted the Miqo'te next to him and nodded slightly.
Koh'li rose to his feet, astonished by the rapid recovery in the man's condition. He probably should have just taken off after this but curiosity had gotten the better of him as he continued, taking a step back, "Are you okay enough to return to your own?"
The Garlean did not speak, he looked around the wreckage of his ship, rifling through his personal belongings and any supplies he had left. He sighed and let out a cuss at the broken gunblade laying on what use the be the floor of the ship before grabbing a pistol and placing it in his side holster. He looked through the other compartments finding any ammo he had left, grenades, and rations. It was almost as if the man didn't hear a word that Koh'li said.
Koh'li arched a curious brow and shook his head. It was clear his job here at been done. At least, he had hoped the man would grant his departure without any trouble. "If you need any further look-over, I am Koh'li and my cottage is not far from here. Otherwise, it looks like you may be well enough now that I will grant my leave."
As Koh'li was about ready to leave, The Garlean frowned and looked to the side slightly in the Miqo'te's direction as he knelt, "Thank you." He then checked his shotgun, staring along the outlines of it before loading it with a few shells.
Koh'li glanced to his side, his back turned to the man at this point as he was content to carry on his way - hiding the sigh of relief that he wouldn't have to fight a Garlean alone and nodded. It didn't take long for the Keeper to rush off - and knowing the forest like the back of his hand, managed to disappear without a trace.
Arcuris watched the Miqo’te wander off as he continued to salvage what he could. He looked back to his reflection in the water. He blinked a few times, extremely tired from all of the events that just took place. He sat on the soft ground and decided to take a short nap as the rain fell around him.
