/he’s still munching on cookies with crumbles on his lips and chin when the kid hugs his leg, he smiles at her brightly; Of course! Let’s both eat MANY many cookies! /he takes the jar and sits down on the floor, placing the jar between him and Koharu, giving her cookies and eating more himself; Nyamnyam!

Since the day you came to my life, I’ve loved you. You’ve always been my little girl, my smart and adorable princess. I promise to be an amazing papa to you from now on, too. The dad you always deserved. I promise to give you a childhood which you can remember many years from now in the best possible way. I promise to make your booboos go away, I promise to protect you and guide you through the difficult years. I promise to prepare your first ever bento when you go to school. No matter how busy my work will be, I promise to be there for you and your siblings, always by your side. I promise to be there when you graduate, and when that day comes that you stand by the altar, as a beautiful bride just like your mother right now, I promise not to cry too much.. only a little.. and then at the party I promise to kidnap you for a dance.

"Peppermint" - koharu

“You’re already way past your curfew, birthday hero,” he whispered to her daughter who was clinging onto her, resting her head against his shoulder as he carried her to her room. She had finally fallen asleep after all of the excitement of her fifth birthday party. Downstairs Satomi was still cleaning, gathering all of the torn gift wrapping papers and taking care of the dishes while Sho had promised to take their sleepy princess back to her bed.

“Oh no, Kuma-chan is clumsy isn’t he?” He picked up the plushy which had fallen to the floor and placed the teddy next to his daughter, gently wrapping her arm around her friend. For a moment he stayed there, watching the child with a warm smile, feeling proud of her. She was growing up so fast, he couldn’t believe it. Somehow it made him sad, knowing that she wouldn’t stay as his little princess forever. That one day he would become the worried father who’d have to protect her from any guy who wouldn’t treat her well. He tucked her in, watching her for a while before standing up to walk to the door quietly.

“Papa?” The tiny voice stopped him and he glanced at his daughter, his hand on the light switch. “Can I tell you a secret?” She was cuddling with her teddy friend as she asked this cautiously. Her father smiled and returned to her bed, taking a seat on the edge of it. “Of course you can, sweetie. What is it?” He spoke with a soft tone, her daughter seemed shy suddenly. “Don’t tell mama,” the child hugged the plushie, Sho tilted his head. “I promise that I won’t. It will be our secret. What is it?” Finally his daughter looked at him again. “When Koharu grows up.. Koharu wants to marry papa,” the child confessed. Sho chuckled softly at the adorable confession, he was touched. He was touched to know that he was still the number one guy in her life. “Alright. Papa will marry Koharu-chan,” he nodded at her which made the child visibly happy. “But now it’s sleepy sleep time for the princess,” he gave her forehead a kiss, Koharu closed her eyes. “Koharu loves papa,” she muttered as she started to fall asleep. Sho adjusted the blanket over her gently. “And papa will always love Koharu-chan,” he whispered, realizing that his daughter had already fallen asleep. He sneaked out of the room, turning off the light and closing the door before he returned downstairs, the words of his child still warming his heart.
