〚It was a touch nerve-wracking for the shadow to venture out far, especially to such grand events as an outsider. Despite all these centuries he could not shake the feeling that some day the rug would be pulled from beneath him, that he would eventually come to find he had been dancing in a fairy ring this entire time, under the illusion of a rather plain life that had carried on since that day he was first brought before Melemele’s lording fae all those years ago. A plain life punctuated by their lights and laughter and music that kept bringing him back to them despite his concerns, and again he found himself lured by just that, a moment to indulge in it all once more, presented in the form of a personal invitation from the lording faerie himself.
He’d been offered drink, something a wiser man would have politely declined, but he was no man, and perhaps a bit weak to the amicable air of the guardian. Besides, he had entered his realm and given the faerie his name long ago. It would take him weeks to rid himself of the effects of the drink, this ruinous drink, but he did not wish to dampen the guardian’s merry mood. He’d exercise caution, or so he said, but as any unaccustomed to the food and drink of the fair lands would soon find, it was all too easy to get carried away.
He straightened momentarily, having begun to slouch over the table. He could feel the warmth in his face, and, judging by the other’s delighted reaction, it was likely just as evident to the eyes.〛
❝ A-ah. No, no, it’s quite alright. I suppose I...must have had a bit too much too quickly. ❞ 〚 He managed to stammer out, looking away bashfully and hiding his face behind the red fringe about it. Unhelpfully, his abashment only served to worsen flushed features in his tiddly state.〛
