To be tagged by the one and only @kolchekyourweapons is an honour of the highest degree.
It's like the Queen knighted me. It's like Terry Prattchet is still alive. It's like my lower body doesn't hurt like a motherfucker during period.
I am a ~lurker but I broke the lurkage for the sole reason I take ANY opportunity to use her blog handle~ KOLCHEKYOURWEAPONS I MEAN
Such wit. We should all just go home.
S: Song for the road - David Ford
My decade-long obsession with this man knows no bounds. The sweetest cynic who never made it, and he's proud of it. He has like 12 people per concert and if I ever go, I'll tell him look, it worked for Jesus, too? I also have his lyrics tattooed, so there's that. A testament to my devotion.
"And while poets try to engineer definitions of love
Oh you know, all I can think of is you"
(I hate saying "I love you". I don't even like to use it in fiction. I AVOID it because it's been so over-used the phrase almost became devoid of meaning. So this, THIS is everything.)
T: Tambourine man - Bob Dylan
Ho, boy. Another obsession. Another mind I want to crack the skull open to suck on the brain and steal their style of combining words into inane phrases.
"And take me disappearing through the smoke rings of my mind
Down the foggy ruins of time
Far past the frozen leaves
The haunted frightened trees
Out to the windy beach
Far from the twisted reach of crazy sorrow"
I, uh. I need a minute. And some ice.
A: Always on my mind - Elvis
I mean. It's Elvis. Apparently people got stuck on licking his preserved semen before, so I suppose I should just throw mine together with that lot.
"Tell me
Tell me that your sweet love hasn't died"
The melody for this part grabs and squeezes at my heart.
C: Cleopatra - The Lumineers
I scream-sing this one whenever it's on. It makes me feel ALIVE when all other songs fail.
"But I've read this script and the costume fits
So I'll play my part"
Something SO tragic and uplifting about this. Fatalism but you're happy about it? (Feels like something Ron Weasley would say.)
Y: Yawning Grave - Lord Huron
I listened to this song in a very dark time in my life. I was at the same time A LOT sadder and a lot more hopeful, too. Didn't accept a certain fate, yet. So I felt the lyrics
"Oh, you fool
There are rules
I am coming for you"
on a really deep, molecular level. Waiting for the day when someone slipped and made a mistake and gave me that sign they were otherwise so carefully keeping secure and silent. The day never came, but this song stayed a fave.
Kirsty I almost tagged APETITE for this just for you bgjlkjlgrljglfklflklfk
