Definition from the Komen Foundation: A Komen BigWig is a very important person on a mission to end breast cancer forever by raising awareness and funds in their community; willing to have fun while wearing a ridiculous pink wig! We will be working hard to help people understand more about this program in the month of June. These funds that we will help to raise will serve the women in our local area. "Breast cancer knows no boundary, be it age, gender, socioeconomic status or geographic location. The greatest risk factors for breast cancer are: being female and growing older. The key to survival is early detection. Three simple steps for early detection are: regular mammograms, clinical exams and breast self exam as well as healthy lifestyle choices." Most of you know I am a breast cancer survivor. Breast cancer affects more than just the person going through the cancer...It affects the friends and the family as well.
