KOMIKS COMMUNITY, STAND WITH PALESTINE! 🇵🇸 Join the call to boycott the Frankfurt Book Fair!
Anyone in the komiks community can sign the statement calling to boycott the Frankfurt Book Fair. This includes komikeros, komiks readers, komiks collectors, komiks sellers, attendees and exhibitors of komiks events, and anyone who is a friend of komiks.
Why are we calling for a boycott of the Frankfurt Book Fair? The fair has enabled Israel's genocide and occupation of Palestine, and contributed to the erasure and censorship of Palestinian authors. Our boycott call adds upon the existing boycott set by Publishers for Palestine, an international network of nearly 600 publishers, which has also been supported by the BDS National Committee.
The Philippines has a particularly important role because this year we are the Guest of Honor at the fair--a paid position that used exorbitant public funds.
Aside from echoing P4P's demands for action and accountability from the Frankfurt Book Fair, we also make these local demands:
For more Philippine publishers to join the Publishers for Palestine network and officially carry its calls for Palestinian liberation;
For Filipino authors and publishers already registered in the fair to back out, join the boycott, and amplify the BDS call, and to use their position as invited co-exhibitors to bring the boycott call closer to fellow Filipino participants and the NDBD;
For the National Book Development Board to use public resources prudently, ethically, and in the national interest by withdrawing the Philippine Pavilion and boycotting the Frankfurt Book Fair.
Boycott the Frankfurt Book Fair!
Free Palestine!

Timawa. (2022).
Day 11 of #Komiktober: Jake Gallo from Elmer by Gerry Alanguilan under Komikero Publishing. Elmer was a four-issue komiks about chickens suddenly gaining human-like abilities to think and speak. While Elmer is the father of our lead character, the story mostly revolves around Jake Gallo and his hatred for humans(but mostly towards Farmer Ben in particular). Which were only fueled after reading entries upon entries from his father's diary. He is mostly bitter and distrustful of everyone. Even to members of his immediate family. The series ran from 2006-2008. It was compiled into a single volume in 2009. The book had been republished by Slave Labor Graphics and was translated in Frech by Éditions çà et là. The series was usually compared to that of George Orwell's Animal Farm for tackling social issues like discrimination and morality. Elmer had won the 2011 Quai des Bulles, the 2011 Prix-Asie ACBD (Best Asian Album), and was an Eisner nominee for the "Best New Album" category. It had received praise from no less than Neil Gaiman himself. Who calls it "heartbreaking and funny and so beautifully drawn". #Elmer #GerryAlanguilan #HeyBaby #Komikero #KomikeroKomiksMuseum #HumanisRex #Wasted #JohnnyBalbona #Timawa #WhereBoldStarsGoToDie #CrestHutButtShop #Komiks #IndieKomiks #PinoyKomiks #Teks #PinoyTeks https://www.instagram.com/p/Cj8irZqylSG/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
