Okay I agree with the tracing others art is bad. I do
But I don't see why tracing a real life image is bad
Hello! Thank you for your question(?).
I would like to preface this by stating that this blog is here to inform people about the tracing done in timkonlings's art; however, I am accepting of questions/messages. Therefore, I will do my best to give an answer from my stance on the validity of art posted online/publicly and the integrity that should come with being an artist.
I am someone who has been drawing most of their life and dedicated many hours to improving their skills as an artist. Please accept that as some form of credibility.
Additionally, I would like to clarify, it is not that tracing A real life image is bad, it is that taking a photograph off the internet, tracing it, and posting it as your work is bad.
A reason why tracing THE real life image is bad is because the photograph does not belong to the artist. Whomever took that photograph deserves to be given credit where it is due, especially the composition of the image.
By posting the art online without credit, you're claiming that your work is authentic and belongs to you. How can a traced image ever belong to anyone but the person who originally created and produced the photograph?
Not to mention, by not giving credit where it is due, the artist is taking advantage of the people who are unsuspecting of them. People are deceived into thinking that the artist took the time and effort to understand anatomy, clothing folds, and other skills that allow for an artist to create the artwork. Consequently, they overrate the artist and allow them to get away with cheating as an "artist".
That may be harsh wording, however, art should be more than tracing lines on a picture, and it IS. Art is the authentic demonstration of an individual's ability to illustrate their imagination.
There's a reason why ai "art" isn't art. Ai doesn't learn the way a person does. It doesn't have a human's imagination. It hasn't spent the hours, the days, the months, and the years learning to draw the way a person NEEDS to in order to be exceptional at art.
Ultimately, we should not be applauding an artist that who is tracing.
I think I've said enough for now, thank you for your time. I can elaborate further if asked to.
For the people visiting my blog, please help spread word about this. It saddens me to see so many people being fooled into liking art that is made through tracing other people's artwork and photographs without credit.
