[Interview] Press Conference d-iZe LIVE in Jakarta. 23rd April 2016
PRESS CONFERENCE d-iZe LIVE in Jakarta
Location: Freeware Spaces, Kemang
Date & Time: 23rd April 2016. 5 p.m. (2 hours before the LIVE started)
NOTE: The interview was held in English-Japanese-Indonesian. So, I had to change the sentences a bit to make it more easy to understand.
He greeted everyone in the room with "Selamat Malam, I'm d-iZe".
Indonesia is the first Asian country where he do the LIVE outside Japan, so he felt so excited and a little bit nervous. This is his first press conference :) He said that doing the press conference in front of medias, really made him nervous much more that doing the LIVE.
Q1 (from Goosehouse Fans Indonesia):
Since when do you know that you have fans from Indonesia, and what is the turning point that make you realised it?
There are so many turning points, from each of the fans, but I think the biggest turning point is when Goosehouse sang the anime song. Through the anime, many people started to get know more about Goosehouse as the cover group.
Q2 (from Nippon Club):
Why did you chose d-iZe as your stage name?
d-iZe means, dreams... realize. It can be dreams, or drama, or some… “D”. I wanna make some “D” realize. So this is my name. Also in Japan, d-iZe is a name of soybean (daizu), tofu or something. So, it's really a familiar name. Then, many people can memorize my name easily.
Q3 (from Akiba Nation):
How do you feel that you are now alone to do the concert? Not together with the group? And then, what was your preparation for the performance tonight?
First, when I’m doing the music with the group or by myself, the preparations and the feeling is not different at all. I always simply thought to enjoy the music together with the audience. So does at this time in my solo career, the feeling has not changed.
This is my first time doing the live performance in another Asian countries, outside Japan. Last year, I did a performance at Seattle, USA, and that was my first. Usually, I sang my original songs in my concert, but this time I will sing some covers, Japanese song covers and English song covers, and also sing Goosehouse's song. Since I think the Indonesian fans really want to sing together with me, this is quite different with my ordinary concert.
Q4 (from L'arc en Ciel Indonesia):
What do you see your future career in 5 years later?
5 years later?…. eeeh…. (long silence).
Actually, I'm not the person who think about the future (laugh).
If I set a goal for myself 5 years later, I don't think something that I enjoy now will felt the same at that time. It can hurdle me to do another things, so I always make it as a "freedom", so I can freely choose what I want to do.
For example, 5 years later in Indonesia, I will gather 1000 fans.
You can help me. Please. Please.

Q5 (from relawankonser.com):
I saw an interesting stage. Would you please explain what was the concept behind of this stage?
I'm sorry I can't explain. For me, this is also a surprise from KONSAATO. He (the leader of konsaato.com) watch my album jacket, and also my Music Video. My bedroom. So, he want to make this concert setting as …. not as a bedroom… but a living room. So this is amazing.
Q6 (from Goosehouse Fans Indonesia):
How was your feeling at the first time when KONSAATO contacted you?
On twitter. I feel weird (laugh).
Is that's true? or no? because I don't have management. I do it all by myself. So, I think when KONSAATO contacted me first, they also feel unsure, the same as myself. However, we chat about it many times later, so it's OK. But at the first time when I received the message, If the offer is real, I really wanted to go.
Q7 (from Akiba Nation):
How was your feeling when you decided to graduated from Goosehouse? I’m sorry for this question...
It's really difficult to describe my feelings, even in Japanese (laugh).
Because I think it's already the time for me to make my solo career. At the beginning of Goosehouse, we are all solo artists. Then we have been doing the job together, and after 5 years the group was became our main field. It was OK, since I was the leader and I want to make Goosehouse bigger at that time.
But, maybe… no one can leave Goosehouse at that time, because the fantasy of Goosehose is really big. That made everyone in the group stopped doing their solo career. Then, me, as the leader decided that to become a solo is better.
It's not about guarantee or money (laugh).
Q8 (from relawankonser):
Your song is titled "Million Dreams", what was your dream when you were a child? And have you achieved all of your dreams now?
When I was an elementary school student, my dream was to be a conductor for orchestra. I don't remember that, but some books or diary told me. And… I'm on my way to meet my dream right now. Just like I said before, I don't set my dream for 5 years later, because I might be stopped halfway in the process.

Q9 (from Jurnal Otaku):
Do you have any musical influences that influenced your music, and does she/he happened to be your favourite musician?
The biggest artist for me is one music teacher in junior high school, because I was a member of a school band and I was play the trumpet. She was really nice, because she taught me how music is so wonderful. She was really good conductor.
And also, when I was in high school, in Japan, RnB music is really popular. So I listened to such as Brian McKnight, Craig David or a vocal group like BOYZ II MEN, BACKSTREET BOYS, and after that when I became a professional singer, I respect YUMI MATSUTOYA and MORIYUKI MAKIHARA, what they do are not only making music, but also their lifestyle and attitude to the fans is really really good, so they gave me a lot of inspirations. That's right.
After I became a solo singer-songwriter, rather than get influenced by the song, I get my influences from the way of how the way that person thinking or their lifestyle.

Q10 (from Kaori Nusantara):
What was your idealism in music?
It's really a difficult question (laugh).
I made the song for my self. What I had learned when I was in Goosehouse is, they usually think to make the songs that will fit the Goosehouse. So, its usually became the same themes. They think about what kind of songs will fit the Goosehouse first and then they create the song from it. However, since I became a solo artist, I think if I don't enjoy the song itself, it won't reach the audience.
I'm very thankful for the fans who came, and they often requested me to sing a song. That won't affect me at all. When I make the song, I did it for myself. But when doing LIVE, I will take a proper communication with the fans. With creating the songs for myself, I trust it will be more creative and the communication with the fans will becomes more natural.
Q11 (from Goosehouse Fans Indonesia):
How was your impression when you arrived at Jakarta, what was the difference with Japan? And what Indonesian food did you taste?
Jakarta? Really hot. I ate Nasi Goreng.
I like travelling, I went to some countries and I always smell each airport, because each country has its own smell. Jakarta smelled not bad, but… it was a little bit… more… for example, Taiwan smelled like a Hakkaku (a name of spices) like Chinese Food or something in Taipei, and US smelled like coffee or something. But Jakarta is… my… it's really difficult to describe. However, when I met with the people, it's not that I'm using smell as the tool, but I can feel that the feeling is quite similar. So, the smell of Jakarta didn't felt like it was in a faraway place at all.
Q12 (from KONSAATO):
Okay, any last word from you d-iZe?
Okay. Thank you for coming tonight, and I will enjoy my show. Maybe, after this concert I can be more energetic. Because I believe that the fans will give a lot a power. Usually, they give me power through twitter or other SNS, but today I can see them directly in face. Maybe we can sing together, and that will make me more energetic. So, I'm really excited now, I hope the show will be a good show tonight for me and for the audience.
